What Students Say
Likes
- I'd say it all depends on students pro-active nature to make sure of his situations.
- I enjoyed by at ASU, AZ surroundings, University atmosphere, clubs, resources, quality of education.
- No dislikes, apart from being away from home when sickness strikes.
Course Curriculum
- Top notch, but securing a spot in those classes is PURELY LUCK! Actually, this is something I didn't like at ASU. Choosing a class should be at your will, but this has been made a joke, despite all the early morning course registration efforts.
- Almost all courses had very good relevance to what I am seeing and dealing with on a day-to-day basis. Classes such as sustainable construction, building estimation, and deep foundations, taught by Jesse Pruitt, were particularly helpful for me in understanding the preconstruction efforts.
Admission Experience
- I was fascinated by the geological location of Arizona, as it is geologically rich in heritage and culture, and also shares many adjacent states that I am more inclined towards on an exploration standpoint (California, Utah, New Mexico, and Nevada). University rating, campus architecture, climatic conditions similar to India, cowboy culture..etc.
- I had to show an IELTS score of 7.5; the GRE wasn't a requirement at the time of my admission.
Faculty
- Monica perrin, Jesse Pruitt, & most beloved Timothy Becker who was my mentor.
Campus Life
- trekking, swimming, part-time opportunities, etc. Advice to incoming students: don't get fooled by Insta reels showing extreme conditions, either great fun/ too bad, talking about attacks, racism, or other BS. There is always an equilibrium; it depends on how you react and the environment you create around you.
- Take control of what you consume. Pay extra attention to your health; it can slip before you even realize it. Workout and prayersfor your inner peace, networking with industry folks for real time updates and project challenges so you pick your projects which fit the industry, friends for fun, travel as much as you can as you never know how long you'll stay in USA, manage your expenses to fit your lifestyle, make memories as you can get those bucks saved in no time once you land a decent job. Still, you can't get back the moments you missed with folks you love.
Part Time Jobs
- 12-14, in-person & referrals, jobs at ASU page, 20 hrs, difficult unless you know folks already working there, a good rapport with your professors should land you not one but multiple TA opportunities.
Placement
- 80% folks got jobs, $70,000, LinkedIn, networking events, referrals (90%), career fair was a BIG FAIL for me to land jobs but helped me tailor my resume as you find plenty of fellow peers with stunning resumes in hand, grab a few and UPGRADE yours, simple :)
Accommodation
- Mixed bag of all, beware of FB scammer when looking out for places, rent if shared, 650-900 with utilities. You can get it under 500, but it might not be ideal for some.
Exams
- IELTS, Statement of Purpose, LOR, CV, Academic docs, certifications, awards (if any)
Fees
- Plan close to 60-65K USD just for tuition.
