What Students Say
Likes
- What I like most about this university is its excellence in biomedical research. It is one of the best in the field.
- I developed a strong interest in biomedical research during my undergraduate studies, and this university stood out as the ideal place to pursue that passion. It also provides a decent stipend, and the professors, facilities, and overall resources are truly top-notch.
Dislikes
- The only downside is that housing near campus can be a bit expensive, but that is a common issue across most universities, so it is not a major concern.
- Overall, choosing to come here for my PhD has been one of the best decisions I have made.
Course Curriculum
- The courses are good. As I am in my first year, I primarily work in the lab and focus on research. Typically, we have one to two classes a day, scheduled either in the morning or the afternoon. The average class size is around 30 students.
Admission Experience
- Again, I would say I was interested in biomedical research, and this university is one of the best for that field, so it has helped me a lot. The admission process was simple. I received my acceptance around January 20 and accepted the offer within a month. After that, they sent me the I-20 and other documents needed for the visa process.
- I completed the visa process, and the university also supported me with grants for relocation and even booked my flight. Overall, my experience so far has been great.
Faculty
- I am not sure about this; I don’t have full information about the overall faculty-to-student ratio. In my classes, the strength usually ranges from 15 to 30 students.
- The faculty and staff are very knowledgeable and approachable, and they have been supportive throughout my research and learning experience.
Campus Life
- The campus is beautiful and has excellent infrastructure. You can choose from a wide range of extracurricular activities. The research facilities, libraries, and sports amenities are all top-notch.
Placement
- As a first-year PhD student, I don’t have complete information, but from what I have observed, students who complete their PhD often get jobs in good companies, and some also pursue postdoctoral positions. I am still early in my program, so my knowledge is limited.
Accommodation
- We found accommodation using the university's off-campus housing site. Monthly rent for me is $1200 per month. It includes all facilities.
Exams
- TOEFL. You need cv, 3 LOR’s, SOP and a personal history
- Just TOEFL, the requirement is 100 for prospective PhD students.
Fees
- I am a PhD student, so it is funded by the university.
