It is a good university to study at. The campus life is good, the academic aspect is good. The only downside is that it is a bit expensive if there's no scholarship. Weigh the options well.
Finished one semester here at UTD. Wonderful experience so far. Learned a lot of new skills professionally and academically. Made a lot of new friends. Getting accustomed to the new style of learning in the US. Continuous assessments and graded homeworks are new and need to familiarise with. Been part of some student clubs and organisations. Looking forward to the next semester.

- I was mainly drawn by Scholarship and the courses offered at the university. Even the location being not too cold added onto it
My experience at UT Dallas so far in my first semester has been great with their experienced faculty as well as on campus.

- Same Weather environment and lots of Indians. Also, amazing professors who great research in the field they will teach us.
Its good for campus life but not from job factor. For a single part-time on-campus job itself vacancy to application ratio is about 1-400. So, anyone can imagine.

- Nothing in particular.
The community is really quite with majority of Indian population. The living in Dallas is quite expensive. The rent can start from $400 per person to $700 per person in an sharing space. Private living can be more expensive. Other charges include utilities like electric and water. Since it's only been 2 months the water bill is not yet generated. However the electricity bill can vary from vendor to vendor and kind of plan you opt for. I have the simply low plan where I get 115 dollars credit if the usage is above 1000kwh. Otherwise it's 20 cents per kwh. I got $167 in the first month and $123 recently for 1117 kwh.

- I was looking for a more handson digital marketing kind of a course, which only two universities provided for marketing that i could get based on my scores. The course structure was better at UTD and so i chose UTD
- UTD makes you feel like you are still connected to home. Majority of The faculty and students are Indians which give you a sense of familiarity and you dont miss home as much.
- This acts like a positive and a negative. But for me it was a major positive as I am more of a social person and I could connect better with people.
Dislikes
- The major thing that I dislike about UTD is that the some of the courses taught by Indian faculties still follow the traditional indian teaching ways and havent evolved to the change that we wish to go there for. I personally faced this in 2 of my courses.
My overall experience was very good. I had an on-campus job at the parking and transportation department. The education and extra curricular activities were too good.

- The only thing I dislike about the college the high tution rates. The tution rates are a little high compared to other colleges. Apart from these there is nothing that I dislike about the college. Everything remaining that I liked in the college.

- I applied to this university in the last moment. My application cannot be generalized to take as a reference. It is always better to start early. After 3 years of working I definitely felt a need to get into academia again and take a switch from my SDE job in India.
- Acads are well structured. UTD MS CS offers various degree tracks. We can choose one among them to plan our course work that aligns with our interests. The computer science program is rated highly for its flexibility, quality of course structure, network and research output. One of the best computer science programs in United States.
Dislikes
- While the program is solid, there's a high degree of variance in quality of professors. For the same course ,it is possible that two different instructors teach it at different levels. While it might be easy to get a good grade by choosing the instructor with lighter academic load , it leads to diluted learning and you will not be getting the best of what they offer. Also relatively high fees is one of major drawbacks. Often students find it difficult to fund their tution and apply for transfers.
Academically good. There are few other colleges that are similar in acads but much better fee structure . ( For ex ASU). Overall it's decent. If you are coming from a top tier engineering college in India, you might feel the acads here are bit diluted and easy but the opportunities after MS are worth taking the risk.
