- Communication delays from admin is a major bottleneck in University. It's a big university with lot of courses and branches to manage so expect delay in response but can be manageable by coordinating with right person.
- Meal plan is not much of useful for international students.
- Lack of bank and finance centre within university
- I found accommodation using university website resources for off-campus housing. We leased it early so it cost us much less compared to market pricing during July-August.
- My monthly rate is around $500. Monthly rates include electricity and utilities. It does not include food and groceries.
- Challenges you'll encounter are a lack of information on ground realities. Location and terms of the lease can be quite annoying, as we would not be familiar with the process.
- My accommodation is close to the university, around half a mile away from the main university area.

- Commuting is kind of difficult when you can't find bus

- I haven't got any challenges on accommodation; it is ready to move in when you can find the vacant home on the internet like google or you can connect through fellow students for more information or room sharing if you are comfortable doing that and buy a car for better travel purposes and have some cash with you.

- Welcoming campus environment - the campus is vibrant and diverse, with a strong sense of community and plenty of student organizations and events that make it easy to connect and get involved

- Elaborate post availability in some semesters - occasionally certain elective forces are not for every semester, which can make planning the ideal schedule a bit challenging
- Extreme summer heat – Tucson's summer can be extremely hot, which takes some getting used to and can make out outdoor activities comfortable during peak months
- Getting an on-camping job is quite difficult for the beginners here
- The process for finding accommodation is that you have to search for accommodation on the university portal. On the university portal, there are two options for on-campus and off-campus accommodations; you can choose whichever feels right or is in the budget.
- I would prefer going through these accommodations which are offered by (College) itself; staying apart from it becomes challenging because the vicinity is not that safe and people might overcharge you.
- I have stayed in Midtown on 1st, which was quite budget friendly but it was unfurnished and had no utilities like Cooking station, oven, microwave or dishwasher. I have even stayed at Agave 350, which is quite the best because they even provide you gated security for you and the packages that arrive when you order from Amazon. The plus point over here was that it felt quite safe in Agave compared to Midtown. If your budget is quite good, then i would suggest Agave 350; if you have a mid-range budget, then go for Midtown on 1st.

- Faculties are very helpful. Their teaching is top notch.
- Was good mingling with other people from different countries.
Dislikes
- Nothing much just the location may be and also the weater
- Through alumni, we can find good accommodation. Finding roommates is the real task. You can find both cheap ones and expensive ones here.
- Apartments near universities might be comparatively expensive. Campus crossing is a good place to live. Entrada is also a good option. Average $500 per month.

- I find it through some online portals but you can also search for on-campus stays. If you need the best gym, consider any student housing near south recreation centre. North one is not that great.

- Domain expert faculties are very few for Data Science
- Career fairs are little to no help
- As it stands (2025 Spring), Data Engineering is not being taught in the school of information for the masters curriculum - which is a hugely important domain in DS
- I used online platforms to search for off campus housing. That and coordination with other students enrolling in the same batch via WhatsApp got me my house for rent. My monthly rent was about $500 for a 2B 1 bathroom house for 4 people sharing.
- One recommendation is to not go for the cheapest residency since the facilities and maintenance may not be up to standard - as we experienced. Also, ensure that the utility bills are kept in check and accounted for correctly.
- Tucson is very hot in summers and unsafe after dark - so ensure you have both bills and safety in check. My current house is a 5 minute walk from campus - and most Indian students live within a 10 minute walking radius from campus. (Although more expensive housing)

- I love how there are many on-campus job opportunities that help me earn while studying, making it easier to manage my expenses
- The strong research culture here is amazing - faculty members are always open to involving students in research projects through assistantships
Dislikes
- The University is very big making it very difficult to commute from one building to another, the tram facility helps but sometimes the wait time is too long.
- Since the University is located in Tucson, which is a desert, Summars can get very hot.
- Even though there are a lot of Part-time/ student worker opportunities, it can get very difficult to get a on campus job.
- I Live in a off-campus apartment called which is just 15 minutes away from the university. I found this accommodation after reaching out to previous students on LinkedIn. I live in a unfurnished 4 bedroom apartment and I share it with 3 other grad students and my share of rent + utilities will be almost $500 - $550 / month. It was challenging to find accommodation staying in India and without actually looking at the place in-person and just trusting someone, once we got here we actually felt scammed as we where shown a different unit and the one we actually paid for looked very old and was falling apart. We failed to understand the management was not really good but now we moved into a better unit.

My Data Science course is ranked 9th by Forbes so I chose this university. Also, the living expenses are minimal here. Moreover, there are many facilities provided by the university like cat tran, safe ride, campus pantry, etc. There are many on-campus opportunities too. The faculty is also good.
