As a HOD, my leadership style has evolved over time. I believe effective leadership entails providing clear direction and guidance and empowering team members to work autonomously. Leadership is also about working together while ensuring they have the support and resources needed to succeed.

In my perspective, the education industry offers a fulfilling career path because it allows individuals to contribute to the development of future generations. I believe the most optimal path for a student aiming to excel in any field of engineering may differ based on their perspective, interests, goals, and circumstances. Nonetheless, there are fundamental steps to enhance success. I would advise them to build a solid foundation in math and science and select an engineering field that resonates with their passions and abilities. Engage in internships and cooperative programs, participate in engineering clubs and organisations, and consider pursuing advanced degrees and certifications. When you look back on your time in the educational industry, what’s the significant difference? 

Our education system is basically focused on imparting knowledge through books and numbers. Students might be well versed in theoretical aspects of learning but lack the skill to implement learning in the practical world. The modern education system maintains a balance of theoretical and practical learning. There is a focus on picking up technical skills before one starts working.

I have some suggestions for the new generation coming forward. Pursuing your passions can lead to a more fulfilling and rewarding career. Choose a field of study that you are passionate about and pursue it with dedication and enthusiasm. Learning doesn't stop when you finish your degree. Embrace lifelong learning by seeking out new knowledge and skills, and staying up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends. Good communication skills are essential in today's workplace. Practice your communication skills by participating in group projects, presentations, and public speaking engagements. Also, build a strong network of colleagues, mentors, and industry professionals.
