Being the part of management, what is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

My educational philosophy of leadership, in a nutshell, would begin and end with developing a positive culture that students, staff, and community members enjoy being a part of. Rather than finding ways to escape, I want to include everyone. If the bookends of my philosophy are cultivating a positive culture, the contents within are to sustain it. I try to build relationships with all stakeholders, discover and play to the strengths of my staff and institute community members. I build leadership capacity by empowering students and educators to embrace an innovator’s mindset, be real, and lead by doing.

Any feedback you would like to share with the new generation coming forward?

I urge the new generation to dream big. However at the same time, remember to start small. Transformation does not require a massive push. Like everything in nature, it’s a gradual process. There will be spikes, when you hit the threshold where something big happens and there will be lows as well. You have to work from the ground up. Every tree starts off as a seedling – you have to take care of it and let it grow.
