Dr. Monika Jain an alumnus of IIT Roorkee & BITS Pilani is a highly accomplished academic and respected professional, with a diverse background spanning 24+ years in academics, research, and industry. She holds a Ph.D. from BITS Pilani, Pilani campus and is presently serving as Professor and HOD in the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering at ITS Engineering College, Greater Noida. Dr. Jain is a core member of the Newgen IEDC Advisory Board

(Rs. 2.87 cr project of EDII, DST) overseeing the financial implementation of innovative projects, start-ups, incubation, coordination with various stakeholders. She is a Gold Medallist & Merit Scholarship holder. She has made valuable contributions to institution building, serving in various key capacities such as Dean-Research & Corporate Connect, Head of EI & EEE , Head-First time NIRF ranking at Galgotia college of Eng. & Technology. The ECE department headed by her got NBA accredited till 2025.  Her involvement in curriculum design, prospectus development and education pedagogy, alongside the founder VC of Galgotias University, demonstrates her visionary mindset and forward-thinking approach in alignment with industry standards to establish a strong foundation for the university. Moreover, as the Head of Admission Team for the Galgotias University's founder batch, Dr. Jain's exceptional counseling strategies and her ability to handle challenging situations with tact and empathy ensured a positive and constructive atmosphere during the admission process. As a prolific researcher, Dr. Jain has published 50+ papers, including 10 in SCI and 12 in Scopus-indexed journals; she has demonstrated a significant contribution to scientific literature. What strategies would you implement to ensure effective management and coordination within the department?

I would ensure effective management and coordination within the department by fostering open communication channels among faculty members, implementing regular team meetings to discuss goals and challenges, establishing clear roles and responsibilities, promoting a culture of collaboration and knowledge-sharing, and facilitating professional development opportunities to enhance skills and expertise among the team. These strategies will contribute to streamlined operations and a cohesive, motivated department.


How do you plan to foster a positive and innovative academic environment for both faculty and students in the department?

To cultivate a positive and innovative academic environment, I intend to encourage interdisciplinary collaborations among faculty, promoting the exchange of ideas and expertise. I will facilitate regular workshops and seminars to expose both faculty and students to emerging trends and technologies. Additionally, I plan to establish mentorship programs, enabling experienced faculty to guide and inspire students in their research pursuits, ultimately fostering a dynamic and forward-thinking ecosystem.


Describe your approach to curriculum development and how you would ensure it aligns with industry demands and advancements.

My approach to curriculum development involves continuous engagement with industry leaders, alumni and professionals to identify evolving trends and skill requirements. Regular curriculum reviews, integrating practical projects and case studies, and offering elective courses in emerging technologies will ensure our programs stay current and equip students with the skills demanded by the industry.


How do you plan to promote research and collaboration among faculty members and students within the department?

We foster partnerships with local industries for internships, joint projects, and real-world exposure, ensuring students gain practical insights and skills relevant to the job market. We have already created an on-campus innovation center to incubate student-led projects, facilitate entrepreneurial endeavors, and encourage hands-on experimentation. We offer targeted certification courses, workshops, and industry-aligned training to equip students with up-to-date skills and make them industry-ready.


Can you give insight on the practical experiences provided by the department? 

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at I.T.S Engineering College is dedicated to producing globally competitive graduates and advancing cutting-edge research. With a strong emphasis on project-based learning, state-of-the-art laboratories, and esteemed Skill Enhancement centers like Robotics & Embedded System in collaboration with e-yantra IIT Bombay, IOT center and NI Innovation Centre, students gain hands-on experience in Embedded Systems, Robotics, IOT(Internet of Things), Virtual Instrumentation, and Automation. The student activity club "Envision'' and IEEE student branch further enrich their journey with diverse skill development programs, fostering a holistic growth that combines technical prowess with ethical and professional excellence.

To promote interdisciplinary collaboration, I will establish cross-departmental project teams with diverse expertise. I'll create a platform for idea exchange through inter-departmental workshops and joint seminars. Additionally, I'll allocate dedicated funds for interdisciplinary research initiatives, fostering a culture of innovative problem-solving and knowledge integration across departments


How would you ensure that the department remains up-to-date with the latest advancements in Electronics & Communication technology and trends?

As the Head of Department, I am committed to ensure our department's continuous relevance and currency. Regular engagement with industry experts and active participation in conferences and workshops will keep us abreast of emerging trends. Robust faculty development program will encourage ongoing learning and integration of cutting-edge advancements into our curriculum. We have well defined R & D policy to support faculty & students engagement in current research areas and encourage collaborative projects with other research institutions. Furthermore, we actively seek grants and sponsorships to upgrade our laboratories and equipment, enabling hands-on exploration of the latest technologies by both students and faculty.
