Dr. Mohammed Jameel Hashmi is currently serving as the HOD and Associate Professor in the CSE Department at ISL Engineering College, affiliated with Osmania University in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. He is a results-driven and dedicated professional with over 26 years of extensive experience in academia, specializing in Computer Science and Information Technology. He is proficient in teaching Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Data Structures at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He is recognized as an External Reviewer for the General Foundation Program by the Oman Accreditation Academic Authority (OAAA). He has published research papers in various international and national journals. He has also attended various conferences, seminars, workshops, FDP’s nationally and internationally.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector? What is the reason behind your pursuing a career with ISLEC?
Education is an evolving field. Staying updated through continuous learning, networking, and engaging keeps me connected to the education sector. I like to participate in educational initiatives and hence, joined a professional organization like ISLEC to collaborate with industry and engage students to participate and motivate them to take initiative to move ahead in their careers. In this way, I think I am helping the community to upgrade and evolve to the challenges of the industry.

We also encourage online learning through platforms like Coursera and edX. We focus on establishing a culture of continuous learning with expectations for faculty development. We integrate feedback, industry collaborations, and research opportunities to ensure the CSE department stays abreast of the latest developments in teaching methodologies.
What are the current biggest challenges in the field of Computer Science Engineering domain in general, and how do you plan to address them as the HOD?
Adopting a proactive approach, involving stakeholders in decision-making processes, and maintaining flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances are key strategies in addressing these challenges as the Head of the Department (HOD). Additionally, seeking feedback from students, faculty, and industry partners can provide valuable insights for continuous improvement.
