Mr. Nilesh Rai is currently serving as the Head of the Computer Science Department at the Millennium Institute of Technology and Science. He holds an impressive academic background, with degrees from renowned institutions in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. He completed his undergraduate studies at the RKDF Institute of Science and Technology, followed by a postgraduate degree from LNCT College. He further pursued a Ph.D. from Madhyanchal Professional University.

With a teaching career spanning 15 years, Nilesh Rai has made significant contributions in the field of education. He has been associated with prestigious institutions in Bhopal, MP. He spent six years at the LNCT College , where he honed his teaching skills and gained valuable insights into computer science education. Subsequently, he served at Truba Group of Institutions for a period of five years, further enhancing his expertise in the field.

Being a Faculty of the CSE Department, what are your roles and responsibilities towards the students? 

My role and responsibilities are to teach the students as well as manage the department by looking after the various activities, guiding the assistant professors and professors in our department, following the curriculum, and making changes in our department in order to have smooth operations. 

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

Yes, we have established a healthy relationship with the students by following a culture of teacher guardianship, where a particular student is assigned to a particular faculty member, and the faculty member helps him or her with various problems related to studies as well as in their personal lives, which creates a healthy environment in our department.

How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects and make it industry-oriented?

Yes, we brought a practical approach to our students by teaching them in labs so that they will have practical exposure and knowledge, which will automatically help students. As computer science is a subject of practicals, a student has to spend time more on computers than in class, which automatically makes them learn new things as well as adapt themselves according to the latest technologies. Apart from that, we introduce them to the new software and technologies according to the new industry standards, which makes them industry-oriented and future-ready. 

How do you strategize the curriculum and how often it gets updated to make it befitting for the students?

Our curriculum is affiliated with RGPV, and we make our changes according to them. Apart from that, we add additional subjects to our curriculum so that the students will learn something new as per the changing environment, which helps them adapt themselves to this changing world.

What are the best practices offered by the department to the students which help them gain necessary skills?

Yes, we provide them with the best practices by conducting aptitude tests as well as communication skills classes, which help them gain the necessary skills as per industry standards. Apart from this, we also have training and placement activities where students get trained so that they are ready for their interviews in their placement drives.

How do you help your student to cope up with the competition being so high in the outside world?

We are making our students competitive with the other students by organising tech fest & indulging them in various projects so that they will know at what place they stand & they will be able to adapt themselves according to the competition & can be ready the next time.

Do you have any extracurricular activities/ programs to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to real world challenges?

Yes, we conduct extracurricular activities in our department by doing various sports activities, festivals, sponsored seminars, and webinars for the students where various experts join in to give information about recent changes in the industry and technologies implemented in the computer science industries, such as how to learn and adapt yourself to AI and make a growth in your career.

What are the challenges you faced/ are facing to uplift the quality of education of your department?

The challenges that we are facing in our department are attendance. Students don't attend some of the classes due to lack of interest in some or other things, so because of those students, we have to do extra classes and activities so that they will be able to understand the things and know what is happening.

When you came to college, what was your vision and how are you trying to achieve the same?  

My vision is to train and develop the students according to the future, and I also want them to know about our society, culture, and trends so that they can easily fit in this modern, changing world.

What valuable advice would you like to give to the students to have a prosperous career ahead?

The advice I want to give to students is that students have to focus on their skills, The marks on the mark sheet do not showcase their skills, they have to make their efforts on knowledge & skills so that they can adapt themselves to this changing world.
