What are your responsibilities towards students?
As the Associate Professor and Career Development Convenor at St. Paul Institute of Professional Studies, my main job is to ensure our students have what they need to get good jobs in today’s tough job market. I pick out the best courses, design programs to boost their skills and get them ready for lots of different kinds of jobs. I also run workshops and sessions on personal growth and being successful, focusing on things like professional skills and feeling good overall. I help students get ready for job interviews, set up events about careers, and guide them as they figure out what they want to do. My goal is to help students do well in college, learn important life skills, and smoothly move into the working world.
What skills student should possess to make themselves employable in the market?
To do well in the job market, students need more than just knowing their stuff. They should also be good at talking to others, dealing with change, solving problems, working with others, and always learning new things. Besides being good at what they do, students should also be good at getting along with people, thinking carefully about things, managing their time well, and being proactive. These qualities, along with being open to new ideas and keeping up with what’s happening in their field, help students stand out in the tough job market.
