Dr P Kumar Babu pursued his B.Tech.(Mechanical Engg.) from Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur during 1987-91 and M.Tech. (Heat Power Engg.) from JNTU College of Engineering, Anantapur affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad during 1991-93. In Academics he has 50 publications in referred International/National Journals and presented 26 publications in conferences. At present he is acting as Chief Editor for two International Journals.

Dr Kumar Babu has professional memberships in American Society of Mechanical Engineers(ASME), Indian Society of Technical Education (ISTE), Indian Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE-Chennai Chapter), Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, India (FIE-Tirupati Local centre) through which he had organized Seminars/Workshops/Faculty Development Programmes in the advanced topics of Mechanical Engineering. For his contributions in Academics as Faculty in Mechanical Engineering he is conferred with the Award of “Outstanding Faculty” by Venus International Foundation, Chennai .Along with Teaching and Research, Dr Kumar Babu also has hands on Academic Administration as HOD & Principal and experienced both in Teaching –learning monitoring as Professor-Academic Affairs and Institution Examination System as Controller of Exams . Being the Principal of SREE VENKATESWARA COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING what is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

A Belief system comprising core principles, perspectives, and values guides my decision-making. I believe that Transformational leadership gives the best way to reach the Institute's vision.


Being the Principal of SREE VENKATESWARA COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING, how do you strategize about the key programs and plans for the marketing and administration of your school?

I go with setting out a framework of priorities for the college, its divisions, and its Departments. I follow the Vision statement, Mission Statement, Value statements, Strategic Initiatives, Goals, and results. Marketing Strategies are Penetration through Quality market Capture through student development and a diversified approach to being a unique Institute.


The education systems in India and other foreign countries are structured very differently. In your experience, what can an inbound student gain from studying here in your university?

In India, Education is a formality and part of the routine; everyone aims for a degree in either the engineering or Medical stream, whether they learn something or not. But in foreign countries, education is seen as a learning process. The foreign education curriculum contains everything from Skills to sports, along with studies. The Indian education system lacks flexibility and specialization options.

Sree Venkateswara College of Engineering, Nellore (SVCN) defines a syllabus with numerous individual activities, policies, and programmatic approaches to change student attitudes toward Industry problem-solving with Best academic behavior. Any insights into how your university could be more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?

Our SVCN College creates awareness of diverse cultures and different economic conditions.

For our students to participate and perform in class, providing insight into some factors that may explain assessment responses that differ from our expectations. Socio-economic diversity directly helps students, making them better intellectuals and thinking citizens.

What do you think your roles and responsibilities to the University and the students are?

Learning to be self-motivated and self-directing Students are expected to be attentive and orderly in class and considerate in their behavior toward all other members of the teaching community.


What do you think should be the Institute top priority over the next 10 years?

Teaching as a profession infusing fresh ideas and renewed energies should become a sought after which becomes lucrative, respectable and quality driven. Government and College Managements need to invest in Teacher training and Academic leadership training bringing professionalism and thought leadership into the teaching profession.


When you first came to SREE VENKATESWARA COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING, what was your vision for the university? 

To make SVCN a Best Institute for originating and Fostering Skilled Engineers to make them Changemakers for the Development of the Nation with Phenomenal Wisdom, Values, and Societal responsibilities..


Has it evolved over time, and how far along in implementing that vision are you?

It evolved with Time . We started Getting ISO 90001:2000 as the first step in Quality in 2018 and followed it with NAAC accreditation in Bangalore. Later in 2023, TO GO OUT with outcome-based education (OBE), we will go through NBA accreditation in New Delhi.


What would you like people to know about your university they may not know?

The Institute gives Quality Education with innovative teaching processes embedded with state-of-the-art research and entrepreneurial skills, Human values, and Professional ethics.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?

Students have to aim for Economic independence, Life choice freedom, and Contribution to Society. Students should acquire a positive sense of their teaching/non-teaching staff, self-control, decision-making skills, moral system of belief, and pro-social connectedness.


What are some plans that you’re currently (or will be) designing for SREE VENKATESWARA COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING international affairs and/or students?

  1. To provide a single window contact person access for students and teachers.
  2. International Relations supporting Inbound and Outbound student exchange programmes under various partnerships and MoUs.
  3. Invite and assist foreign students seeking admissions in Indian Universities for PG and PhD programmes.

How do you tend to establish a healthy relation and environment in your institute/ university?

  1. Be aware of what both Colleges, teachers and Students are expressing needs of each other.
  2. Ambient Relationship with roommates , friends and Professors in College levels of University.
  3. Communication, Compromise and Commitment of College with students and vice versa.
