Mr. Shubham Tiwari is the Principal of Akhil Bharti College of Pharmacy. He holds a B.Pharm, and M.Pharm. degree and is presently pursuing a PhD degree as well. Besides qualifying for the GPAT in 2017, he also qualified for the NIPER JEE in 2019. Mr. Tiwari has been working since 2016 in the position of Assistant Professor at Barkatullah University, IIOP IES University, and Akhil Bharti College of Pharmacy. He also has three papers published in different national and international journals.

Being the Faculty of the Department, what are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

As a faculty member, I have many responsibilities towards students. A faculty member is like an institutional guardian to students, we try to evaluate good character, provide good knowledge and teach them the skills they will need in their careers. We watch their moves and try to give them direction. In any bad situation, we motivate them to do their best. We are always in touch with their parents and friends to understand every aspect of their lives.

How do you establish a healthy relationship with the students & fellow faculty members?

I have always had healthy relationships with our students and faculty members. I make it a point to always try to understand their problems and guide them like friends. Our teachers help them to face every type of obstacle in every situation possible.

How do you try to bring a practical approach towards the students which help them gain necessary skills?

I have always focused on the practical part of teaching. I always try to teach them some portion of theory and, at the same time, topics related to practicals. I do this so that they can easily understand both the theory and practical aspects of the topic. We try to make them understand how important this topic is from the point of view of its application.

What are the best practices offered by the departments to the students which help them gain necessary skills?

Our institute always provides its students with opportunities to interact with their seniors and industry experts through mentorship programs, tutorials, and assignments related to important topics. There are also timely discussions with each student regarding their studies. We also always motivate them to participate in all activities to understand what is being taught to them.

How do you strategize your curriculum & how often it gets updated to make it beneficial for the students?

We always organise workshops, and conferences related to a student’s subject area. We also have sports and other cultural programmes so that they can learn all the skills needed in their field. We make the effort to do so in order to become the most versatile candidate out there and to be a different candidate from the crowd.

What valuable advice would you like to give to the students to have a prosperous career ahead?

For a prosperous career, I would like to give some tips to my students. Always look to improve yourself in the things you are lacking. For instance, in the pharma field, you should be aware of the composition of all products around you from morning toothpaste to night cream. Make it a point to try to read everything you consume; it will help you improve your knowledge.
