IIM Bangalore has released final shortlist for its 47th PGP batch on May 9, 2020. Delay in final selection process occured due to COVID-19 pandemic and nationwise lockdown. Shortlist for Written ability test and personal interview was released on January 10 after CAT Result was declaredon Janury 4, 2020. IIM banglore relaxed cutoff dor admissions in 2020 with greater focus on academic profile. Candidates who made it to the final shortlist will be intimated personally via email and message.
- IIM Bangalore Selection Criteria held in 2 steps- Clearing CAT, Written Ability Test (WAT) & Personal Interview (PI).
- WAT and PI was conducted at Banglore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and New Delhi. Candidates shortlisted for the PI process had to take WAT on a topic provided by IIM Bangalore.
- Class 10-12 grades, academic performance at graduation level and prior work experience are also considered while preparing the final merit list.
- For foreign nationals, GMAT score will be accepted. IIM-B reduced CAT Cutoff percentile by 5 points bringing it to 85 percentile this year

In this phase, the average of the scores given by the interviewers will be considered. While for the content & style, the score given by an independent evaluator will be considered in Personal Interview. IIM Bangalore Selection Process Phase 2 includes the below stages-
- Written Ability Test (WAT) (Score = 10)
- Personal Interview (PI) (Score = 30)
The WAT score and the personal interview score after standardization across interview panels and sessions will be added to the following scores to arrive at the final aggregate score.
- CAT (weight = 25)
- 10th board (weight = 10)
- 12th board (weight = 5)
- Bachelors (weight = 10)
- Weighted Work Experience (weight = 10)
The final offers of admission to candidates will be made strictly on the basis of ranks in each category on the final aggregate score.
The average quality of work experience score will be multiplied by the pre-PI work experience score and accordingly, the work / professional experience component score (maximum score 5) used in Phase 1 will be revised in Phase 2 (maximum score 10).

- The database of 10th and 12th scores of all CAT applicants of the past two years is used for identifying the 90th percentile score for each 10th and 12th board for this purpose.
- For all candidates in the first shortlist, final scores obtained by them are used for the bachelors’ degree and professional degrees (if any). Incomplete or intermediate scores are considered only if their final score is pending.
- For all candidates in the first shortlist, candidates with Chartered Accountancy, CostAccounting, and Company Secretary certifications are eligible for weight under professional course. No other professional course is eligible for weight under professional course. The professional course score is also standardized for all candidates in the first shortlist.
- For all candidates in the first shortlist, the score/weight for work experience is calculated as:

- For all candidates in the first shortlist, the top 10 candidates in each of the following: total score in CAT exam, adjusted Bachelors’ score (commerce, arts, and science disciplines) and Professional (CA/ICWA/CS), from the first shortlist, as created using the criteria (in first table) automatically qualify for PI. These candidates are given a chance to appear for PI due to their exceptional performance in these categories. However, at the end of Phase 2, all such candidates must merit selection at an identical level of composite aggregate score like any other candidate.
- For all candidates in the first shortlist, normalization or standardization in any component stated above is carried out as per the following formula. All standardization is done with reference to the qualifying first shortlist or its sub-divisions; Standardized score, truncated between 0 and weight (wt) is computed from the raw score (val) as:

- For candidates applying via GMAT, a separate process will be followed.
- It is important for a candidates applying via GMAT to have resided abroad for at least 18 months in the preceding three years, have a valid GMAT score, and should not be / have been in a position to appear for CAT. The GMAT code for IIMB PGP is Q9H-KK-49.
- The first shortlist among such applicants is created by applying the same percentile cut-offs for CAT, as used for the general category candidates.
- The academic background and international experience of the candidate will be scrutinized.
- The evaluating faculty will also assess whether the candidate is likely to gain admission through CAT.
- All shortlisted candidates will appear for the PI round.
- Candidates appearing for the PI process through remote video conferencing would be required to take the Written Ability Test (WAT) through email.
