IIM Nagpur offers 2-year, full-time, residential Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) to domestic as well as overseas Indian students. The basic admission criteria for domestic students are done through CAT exam. Overseas Indian students have to take GMAT test to take admission to the program.
IIMN admission process in PGP program for batch 2020-22 will commence in the first week of April 2020 after the CAT Result is declared. The selection of domestic candidates done in three stages i.e. CAT Percentile Score, Academic Performance and final selection is done through PI and WAT. The total intake of the institute in PGP program is 130.

PGP Admission Process at IIM Nagpur
The admission process at IIM Nagpur is done based on the criterion mentioned below:
- Performance in CAT
- Past Academic Performance
- Work Experience
- Performance in Personal Interview and Written Ability Test
The detailed selection process and eligibility criteria for admission in the PGP program are given below.
Stage 1: Shortlisting through CAT Score
Shortlisting of candidates based on their CAT score is the first and foremost step for a further stage of selection. Candidates with positive scores in all the sections of CAT exam are eligible for further rounds of selection. Section-wise and overall minimum tentative CAT Cutoff along with the seat intake are given in the table below.

Note- It is to be noted that candidates who have applied for PGP program from IIM Nagpur during CAT 2019 registration will receive an e-mail from the institute around the third week of April 2020.
Stage 2: Selection based on Past Academic Performance and Work Experience
Candidates shortlisted after analyzing their CAT score will be considered for the next stage i.e. shortlisting based on their past academic performance. Below given are the detailed procedure.
Past Academic Performance
Evaluation of student’s marks obtained in class 10th, 12th, and bachelor's degree programs is done at this stage for selecting candidates for the next stage. Based on their marks, students are categorized into “A”, “B”, “C” category. The score division based on which candidates are categorized into three sections is given in the table below.

Work Experience
Work experience will also play an important factor in determining a candidate’s selection in PGP program. It is to be noted that the candidates with full-time work experience will only be considered. Part-time/Project/Internship/ CA Articleship /Pre-graduation work experience will not be considered for work experience. Formula to calculate work experience is given below:
WE = 0 for x <= 6
WE = 0 for x > 72
WE = x/36 for 6 < x <= 36
WE = 1 – ((x-36)/36) for 36 < x <= 72
Where x is the number of months of work experience.
Diversity Score
The total diversity score is counted out of 10 in which 5 points will be awarded based on their gender (0 for male and 5 for females and transgenders) and 5 points are awarded based on bachelors degree (Candidates with bachelor’s degree in any of the following: BA, BA(H), B.Sc, B.Sc.(H), BS, B.Com, B.Com(H), BCA, BBA, B.Pharma, LL.B, MBBS, BDS or any other Non-Engineering subject areas at the Bachelor’s level not mentioned here).
The total comprehensive score at stage 2 is calculated based on CAT score, PAP, WE and DI. Formula for the same is given below:
Stage 3: Final Selection of Candidates
Candidates who have been shortlisted based on the comprehensive scores calculated at stage 2 and have submitted the application by the deadline will be considered for final admission in the program.
The final selection of the candidates will be done based on the candidate’s performance in the Personal Interview and Written Ability Test conducted by IIMN. At this stage, the Final Score (FS) of the candidate will now be calculated as follows:
The selection at this stage will strictly be based on the ranks of the candidates computed separately for each category (General/SC/ST/NC-OBC/DAP) on the basis of their Final Scores (FS). The numbers selected in different categories will be in proportions mandated by the law.
The selected candidates will receive provisional admission intimation by e-mail. To confirm the acceptance of the offer, the candidate has to pay an acceptance fee of Rs. 50,000 which will be adjusted towards Term I fees subsequently.
Once the candidate will submit the confirmation fee within the stipulated time, the admission will be confirmed otherwise the provisional admission will be cancelled.
