Both Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) and Common Admission Test (CAT) are said to be tough management entrance exams, but it is XAT is considered tougher when compared to the CAT.

Students consider XAT tough compared to the CAT exam because of two portions in the XAT question paper- Decision-Making and Verbal. The verbal part of XAT has longer passages than that of the CAT exam. It is important to learn these differences to plan the strategy to get into to top B-school in 2026.

  • The marking scheme difference is significant. XAT exam also has a sectional time limit, but you can still divide time between English, QA and Decision Making as per your convenience.
  • Both exams test different skill sets. CAT tests speed and analytical precision under strict time constraints. Meanwhile, XAT tests decision-making abilities and broader knowledge.
