JEE Advanced 2023 Paper Analysis is out for both Paper 1 and Paper 2. The exam was conducted from 9 AM to 12 PM and 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM respectively. As per the detailed JEE Advanced 2023 exam analysis, Paper 2 was reported to be more difficult than Paper 1. JEE Advanced Paper 1 and Paper 2 pattern was the same except for the Matching List questions in Paper 1 and Paragraph-based questions in Paper 2.

JEE Advanced 2023 Paper 1 Exam Analysis

Students found the overall level of paper to be moderate to difficult. Some students reported Physics to be easy, Chemistry moderate, but Maths as relatively difficult. JEE Advanced 2023 Paper 1 Question Paper Pattern

According to JEE Advanced 2023 Paper 1 analysis shared by FIITJEE, there were a total of 51 questions (17 in each subject). Each subject of JEE Advanced 2023 paper had four sections for each type of question asked- MAMCQS, SAQS, Integer Type Questions and Matrix Match questions. The total marks for JEE Advanced 2023 Paper 1 was reported as 180 marks (same as last year). With each section carrying a total weightage of 60 marks.

Each question in JEE Advanced 2023 paper 1 had a different marking scheme. JEE Advanced 2023 Paper 1 total marks for each subject was 60 marks

  • Marking Scheme for MAMCQs
    • Full marks: +4 only if all the correct options have been chosen.
    • Partial Marks: 
      • +3 If all four options are correct but ONLY three correct options are chosen
      • +2 If three or more options are correct but only two correct options are chosen
      • +1 If two or more options are correct but only one correct option is chosen
    • Zero Marks: 0 for unattempted/ unanswered questions
    • Negative Marks: -2 in all other cases
  • Marking Scheme for SAQs
    • Full marks: +3 If only the correct option is chosen
    • Zero Marks: 0 for unattempted/ unanswered questions
    • Negative Marks: -1 In all other cases
  • Marking Scheme for Integer Type Questions
    • Full marks: +4 for the correct answer

JEE Advanced 2023 Paper 1 Analysis: Subject-wise Analysis

  • According to the students, Chemistry was not balanced with more weightage to Organic Chemistry. 
    • Inorganic Chemistry questions were directly from NCERT and very few in number. 
    • Physical Chemistry questions were based on chapters like- Chemical Kinetics, Ionic & Chemical Equilibrium, Electrochemistry, and Atomic Structure. Thermodynamics.
    • Organic Chemistry questions were mostly asked about Amines, Polymers, Biomolecules, Oxygen-containing Compounds, and Named Reactions. 
  • Physics was reported to be well-balanced. More weightage was given to chapters like Kinematics, Thermodynamics, Modern Physics, Capacitors, Current Electricity, Kinematics, Gravitation, Optics, and Electrostatics. 
  • Mathematics was tricky with lengthy questions from chapters like Vectors and 3D Geometry. 
    • Other topics asked were Functions, Matrices, Ellipse, Statistics & Probability. Some good questions were asked in chapters of Probability, Complex Numbers, 3-D Geometry, and Parabolas

JEE Advanced 2023 Paper 2 Question Paper Pattern

Both Paper 1 and Paper 2 had the same number of questions and total marks in JEE Advanced 2023. There were a total of 51 questions (17 in each subject). Each subject of JEE Advanced 2023 paper had four sections for each type of question asked- MAMCQS, SAQS, Integer Type Questions and Paragraph based questions. The total marks for JEE Advanced 2023 Paper 2 was also 180 with 60 marks for each subject.

JEE Advanced 2023 Paper 2 Analysis: Subject-wise Analysis

  • According to the analysis shared by FIITJEE, the Chemistry section was reported to be tricky. 
    • The paper was not well balanced with more weightage to Organic and Physical Chemistry. 
    • Inorganic Chemistry had a few questions which were directly based on NCERT.
    • Numerical questions from Chemistry were based on combined concepts of Organic and Physical Chemistry.
    • Questions covered included-
      • Physical Chemistry: Chemical Kinetics, Ionic & Chemical Equilibrium, Electrochemistry, and Thermodynamics
      • Organic Chemistry: Aryl & Alkyl halides, Amines, Polymers, Biomolecules, and Oxygen-containing Compounds
  • In Physics, questions were based on topics such as Wave & Sound, Wave Optics, Fluids, EM Waves, Thermodynamics, Modern Physics, Current Electricity, Kinematics, Gravitation, and Electrostatics.
  • In Mathematics, questions were based on Functions, Differential Equations, Inverse Trigonometric functions, Differentiability, Vectors, 3D Geometry, Application of Derivatives, Complex Numbers, Matrices, Circle Permutation & Combination and Probability.

What After JEE Advanced 2023?

After the conclusion of JEE Advanced 2023, authorities are going to release JEE Advanced 2023 Answer Key PDF on the official website jeeadv.ac.in. First provisional answer key will be released which will be open for challenges, if any. Once all the objections raised have been scrutinized, authorities are going to release the final JEE Advanced 2023 Answer Key. IIT Guwahati will release JEE Advanced 2023 Answer Key PDF on the official website on June 11, 2023. 

These final answer key will be used to calculate JEE Advanced Result 2023. JEE Advanced 2023 Result date is June 18, 2023.
