Charles Sturt University (CSU) was established in 1989 and is headquartered in Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia. It is Australia's largest regional university, with campuses across NSW and dedicated city campuses in Sydney and Melbourne. The Sydney campus is located in North Sydney, just a short train ride from the CBD via the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge, and sits adjacent to the newly opened Victoria Cross Metro Station. CSU is TEQSA-registered, and all its qualifications are aligned with the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
CSU's most prominent distinction is its graduate employment record. It holds the title of #1 university in Australia for graduate employment, a ranking it has maintained for seven consecutive years (Good Universities Guide 2025/26). Nine out of ten undergraduates secure full-time employment within four months of graduating. In global rankings, CSU sits at 601–800 in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026, a significant improvement from its 801–1000 band in 2025.
For Indian students comparing options, CSU sits in a different tier from the University of Sydney or UNSW, but it competes directly with institutions like the University of Wollongong, Federation University, and Southern Cross University. Where CSU stands apart is its practical, industry-aligned curriculum and its unmatched employment outcomes — a factor that matters more to most Indian families than research prestige alone.
The Sydney campus offers three intakes per year — March, July, and November — giving Indian students more flexibility than most Australian universities. International tuition fees at the Sydney campus range from AUD 32,000 to AUD 35,760 per year (approximately ₹20.7 lakh to ₹23.1 lakh). Scholarships of up to 50% are available, and all applicants are automatically considered. The acceptance rate is estimated at 64–71%, making CSU moderately selective rather than highly competitive.
Current Admission Scenario: CSU Sydney is actively accepting applications for its July 2026 intake across all programs. The university operates a rolling admissions model, making it accessible for Indian students who missed the March intake.

Charles Sturt University Acceptance Rate 2026
CSU does not publish an official acceptance rate. The estimated acceptance rate for international students is 64–71%. This places CSU in the moderately selective category — not an open-admission institution, but significantly more accessible than the Group of Eight universities.
The table below shows the estimated 3-year trend:
| Year | Estimated Acceptance Rate | Context |
|---|---|---|
| 2024 | ~70–75% | Broad intake; strong international enrolment growth |
| 2025 | ~68–71% | Slight tightening; increased applications from South Asia |
| 2026 | ~64–71% | Moderately selective; rolling admissions model |
What this means for Indian students:
A 64–71% acceptance rate means that most academically eligible applicants who meet the minimum requirements will receive an offer. The key filters are English language proficiency and academic qualification equivalency. Students with a strong Class 12 record (60%+) and a valid IELTS score of 6.0 have a high probability of admission to most programs.
For competitive programs like the Master of Social Work (Professional Qualifying), which requires IELTS 7.0, the effective acceptance rate among Indian applicants may be lower due to the higher English requirement.

- University Rating, affordable fee and Quality of education, advice from consultants and referral from friends who studies in CSU.
- All lectururers were supportive and always keen to help. Practice teaching techniques. Environment of university was very good. Had a wonderful experience during lectures. Assistance from student help team if any classes were missed and additional help during exams.
Dislikes
- Questions in assignments should be more on practicality than theoretical. Probably lecture slides should be much updated and informative rather than few headings and bullet points. It would be much easier and helpful if they are like a mini text book than a Index book.
Overview
Experience was good. Only few points such as updating lecture slides, providing opportunities with internships would have been helpful.
Campus Life
Library could be better , no sports facilities, Wifi and other services were good.
Overview
The University has a good schedule for the subjects. It is one of the best colleges in Australia.
Fees
$50000( AUD )
Overview
It’s a brilliant University, however, the course is definitely community orientated which is where I want to venture my future profession. The course includes areas such as psychology, policing, politics, emergency management, sociology and indigenous subjects. It’s a thrill to be apart of and this subject will set me up for my future profession.
Fees
There are plenty of international scholarships available which you can select on their website as ‘international student’ scholarships. Which is very easy to manage it’s just a matter of ticking a few boxes on the website.
Overview
I chose this tertiary institution as it was local to my rural home town meaning I didn't need to move away. The small scale of the institution also appealed to me, as I believed it would be less overwhelming than a larger uni. I applied through UAC while completing my year 12 VCE studies. I got accepted with a lower star mark than the expected entrance level. The application fee was included when applying through VTAC and covered all uni applications, including different institutions. I applied for multiple universities, and alongside this applied for two courses at the Charles sturt University.
Fees
HECS loans are available to all Australian students and therefore I have placed my college fees into that loan system. I am unsure of what international applicants have available to them, however, as we have scholarships available for us overseas I am more than certain there would be plenty available.
Overview
Nice one and learn more new things we can get more placements and it is a friend to nature and we grasp new things that would be useful for us. And also a nice staff who teaches and supports in every aspect.
Fees
The fee structure is less compared to other universities. It also depends on the IELTS score. It is $12000 per semester.
