Wilfrid Laurier University is a public university in Ontario, Canada, and was founded in 1911. The university offers admission to international students in three intakes: Fall, Winter, and Spring. The Fall intake is the main intake as it offers a huge number of courses compared to others. The application for all intakes is open. Indian students who are interested can still apply for the Fall intake, as it is the most popular due to the largest number of courses offered, and it allows sufficient time to arrange all the required documents.

The university, with an estimated acceptance rate of around 73%, is considered a favourable option for Indian students seeking admission abroad. For undergraduate programs, there is no strict minimum percentage requirement in Class 12th; however, applicants must have completed at least five subjects in their Class 12th. The institution also follows a test-optional policy for SAT or ACT scores. While submitting these scores is not mandatory, students with lower Class 12 marks can enhance their admission prospects by presenting strong SAT or ACT results.

For graduate courses, the students need to have a “grade B” equivalent to “ 70% ” in their undergraduate studies. GMAT/GRE are test-optional, but are often required depending on courses.

Students are also required to meet English proficiency through exams such as IELTS, TOEFL iBT, PTE, or Duolingo. In certain cases, the university may offer an English waiver if the applicant has studied English as a subject for the three most recent years of full-time education. Beyond academic qualifications, applicants must submit essential documents, including official transcripts, proof of English proficiency, a valid passport copy, a statement of purpose, a letter of recommendation, and a resume, to complete the admission process.

Scholarship

  • For my specific program, there were no scholarships available at the time I applied. I looked into the various funding options offered by the university, but none of them applied to my program or eligibility criteria.
  • As a result, I had to rely on personal savings and other financial resources to support my studies.

Scholarship

  • There is only 1 or 2 scholarships for international students; that is all I know about scholarships. I didn't receive any nor any of my friends. But most of them are for Canadians or Indigenous people.

Scholarship

  • I did not myself receive any scholarships for this course but I know 3 of my batchmates who did received it, but they received it because they chose to pursue the thesis based program of the Master's degree whereas I chose the coursework option.
  • From my knowledge, 1 of those students had his whole tuition fee paid, and the other two received somewhere between $4000-$6000 CAD per term.

Overview

Because it had a small campus and a community feel. I enjoyed the feel of the campus when I was researching it. Additionally, this was one of the few universities in Canada where they did offer a co-op program to art students.

Scholarship

No, I have not been eligible to avail of any such scholarships so far. However this semester I am expecting to be on the honor roll and get a scholarship that is academic.

Overview

It was one of the only options for me to take Kinesiology because in high school I didn't take advanced math or chemistry. I have always loved the school because my older sister studies here as well, so when I got accepted it was an easy decision.

Scholarship

I received OSAP which is through an ontario. The process includes filling out a form about where you live, what school you are going to and how much money your parents make. After that, they estimate how much money you will receive and then in the first semester of school you get half of it and the next semester you get the other half.

Overview

Because I got to move away from home and experience living on my own as well as gaining the freedom of having my own place without someone always asking me questions. As well as the program here at Laurier is amazing for business.

Scholarship

Yes, I have applied for OSAP which was really simple and easy to apply for but Doug Ford is making it harder and harder to receive funding so I don't know what will happen in the future.
