Ans. The choice of the branch is more important than choosing the institute because it determines and shapes your career. If you are interested in working in a PSU or have an interest in Electronics, choose ECE but if you have no such inclinations choose CS, the most diverse field. There are two main differences between IIITs and NITs IIITs are relatively new and may not have a very extensive alumni network while NITs are aged old and have an elaborate network. NITs provide diverse specialization in various fields while IIITs only focus on Computer Science education.  Based on the placement scenario and the academics, here is the preference order I would suggest you follow while making your choice NIT Jalandhar CSE>IIIT Jabalpur CSE>NIT Raipur CSE>NIT Kurukshetra ECE>NIT Hamirpur ECE> NIT Jamshedpur ECE It's important to note that this preference order is not based on any official data and is based on my own opinion only.Read more

Ans. Both NIT Silchar as well as IIIT Jabalpur are backed by the Government of India and have similar facilities. The campus, faculty, and alumni network are great in both cases. However, there are some additional parameters in which IIIT Jabalpur fares better making it a more preferable choice. Some of them have been mentioned below Location : Jabalpur enjoys a good location in the heart of the country while NIT Silchar is located remotely in the North-East. Therefore IIIT Jabalpur has better connectivity and exposure. International collaboration: IIIT Jabalpur has ties with Japan resulting in frequent lectures conducted by Japanese faculty and frequent visits to Japan. Such international ties give it an edge over NIT Silchar in the kind of opportunities offered. Clubs: IIIT Jabalpur has several technical, cultural, and sports clubs, constituting the Student Gymkhana that ensures the holistic development of the students. Coding Culture: The institute is known to have an active coding culture that is promoted by many active programming, web development, and graphics designing clubs. Ans. If you are considering NIT Srinagar for CSE, here are a few things you should know- CSE students face no trouble because of attendance shortage. You’ll be eligible for a good number of companies visiting the campus during the placement season. The permanent teachers are good but less in number.  Though the teachers are good, you’ll have to heavily depend on self-study. This department puts minimum academic pressure on students. The curriculum is also manageable. Here are a few points about NIT Srinagar in general- Srinagar will allow you to enjoy the beauty of nature. You’ll lack access to malls and cinema halls, but the mesmerizing weather will be worth everything.The weather remains cold for 7 to 8 months of the year. You can go for a stroll or play sports on the banks of Dal Lake.  There’s unfortunately, corruption in the college administrative and management units. The hostels have WiFi and ultra-high-speed broadband lines. The mess food isn’t great, and vegetarians/Jains have very limited food options, both inside and outside the campus. There are holidays due to frequent strikes, ‘bandhs’ and curfews. The number of girls on campus is quite low. You won’t be offered a typical college experience at NIT Srinagar. But this place will teach you a lot. Academically, you’ll be on your own. But for a stress-free campus life, you can consider this college.Read more

Ans. I have to admit that the placement opportunities are not very satisfying and the packages offered are quite average. Previous placement statistics reveal that the scope for chemical engineering at NIT Srinagar is not very satisfying. Last year 53 students enrolled for placements in the Department of Chemical Engineering, and 15 of them, or 28% of the total, were placed in key businesses including IOCL, GAIL, BARC, SAIL, etc. The average compensation package is 8 LPA, and the highest salary package is 10 LPA. Chemical engineering students were hired by analytics firms like ZS Associates, Vedanta, and others for an average pay package of 9 LPA. Finding a job after completing a B.Tech degree in Chemical Engineering at NIT Srinagar can be a daunting task for many students. According to statistics, only a small percentage of students, around 9-10%, can secure a job right away. However, for those who do not find immediate employment, there is a viable option to consider.
