The first two consecutive semesters cover the same subjects for all the branches that include basic School subjects, basic mechanical, Basic EEE, and C programming as an additional. Ans. One of my friends studied at Karunya University. According to him, all colleges have pros and cons and Karunya University was nothing different. Here are some things he mentioned about the college which might give you a clear idea. Pros of Karunya University include: It has a decent infrastructure It has around 80% placement rate Great atmosphere and environment as the campus is surrounded by mountains. The climate tends to be good and the place has scenic beauty. The hostels are better than the other colleges and they provide decent quality food. Few departments of Karunya University have good academic plans and syllabus. Good exposure to a diverse culture with international and interstate students. All the restrictions imposed will be only for the first year. Only for the B.Tech course students, the hostel services are compulsory. Rest of the students are allowed to stay outside the campus. Cons or Karunya University includes: It has a high fee structure Compulsory attendance is required for the morning assembly. The students who somehow failed to pay the fees are not allowed to sit in the exams. The placements of some departments are not so great for which the placement rate is 80% and not 100%. The faculty tends to deduct internal marks over unreasonable issues.  You can opt for Karunya University if you are interested. It has a decent infrastructure and is a residential college with high standards. Otherwise, you can also opt for any other college affiliated with Anna University.Read more

The Department of Aerospace was started in Karunya University with the primary objective to produce aerospace engineers for meeting the ever-growing demand for engineers for serving the sectors that are civil aeronautical and defense-oriented. At the same time, the department also aims to employ part of its staff in the expansion of space R&D as the demand for space applications in communication, strategic applications, remote sensing, etc is increasing. The technologists and entrepreneurs of Karunya University are in much demand by the aircraft design and manufacture as there is still a lack of a viable civilian aircraft and industry sector in the country. A large part of the business still goes out to foreign launch operations despite the presence of large communication satellites that are launched into synchronous orbits. The experimental facilities at Karunya University have been set up not only to teach but also to evolve as tools of research and consultancy. The specifications of the facilities have been laid out with their eventual research application. Ans. Thank you for the ask to answer. I am a student of DTU and pursuing Automotive Engineering. In July, I will be sitting for placements, so I can provide you with a perspective on this choice. Firstly, it's important to note that Automotive Engineering is closely related to Mechanical Engineering, with about 80 percent of the syllabus being similar. Additionally, we study 5 to 6 subjects related to Production and Industrial Engineering. During placements, around 70 percent of the companies that recruit for Mechanical Engineering also consider Automotive Engineering students. This can be seen as a drawback since our branch is often perceived as similar to Mechanical Engineering due to the name change. DTU offers ample research opportunities and co-curricular activities. I would suggest you consider your confidence in scoring better in your chosen field. If you believe you can excel, then go for it; otherwise, it might be worth exploring other options.Read more

Ans. I will advise you not to compare colleges solely on the basis of rankings and placements because these are too trivial criteria to be considered while choosing your college. One must look at the bigger picture. NIT Delhi, despite being a new institute, has already laid its strong foundation and you can expect excellent placements in the near future.  Here are a few highlights of the institute: Placements : NIT Delhi has an active placement cell that ensures that every student has at least one offer by the end of the placement drive. Campus : The campus has limited facilities but provides enough facilities to ensure good quality education. Students have access to wifi facilities 24/7. Ranking : Don’t let the low rankings mislead you. These ranking bodies consider criteria like campus, branches, alumni, etc which NIT Delhi definitely lacks in because it's new. Overall, NIT Delhi offers good quality education and a NIT tag that will up your game in higher education.Read more

Ques. Which one is better: a CSE at NIT, Hamirpur or an ECE at PEC?

Ans. In terms of NIRF 2023 rankings, NIT Hamirpur is placed 127th while PEC is placed 138th among Engineering colleges in India.   Keeping the rankings apart, your choice of college should be based on two factors- Branch- If you have a particular interest in one of these branches, I would recommend you choose your college according to that. Both these branches offer good placements, though CSE students end up grabbing the highest packages. Both the colleges offer decent placements.  During the 2023 placement season, the median package for ECE branch at PEC stood at INR 18.40 LPA. Last year, the CSE branch at NIT Hamirpur recorded 96.81% placements. 139 offers were received in total, and the highest salary stood at INR 1.12 CPA. Brand name- Both the colleges are at par with one another, but NIT Hamirpur carries the much-valued ‘NIT’ tag. It has a good infrastructure and a beautiful campus. The surroundings are serene and close to nature. If you have an interest in traveling, photography, and trekking, Hamirpur is more suitable to explore these interests. PEC definitely offers more exposure, being based out of Chandigarh.  Based on your personal preference, you can choose either of the two options. Read more

Ques. Is civil engineering at NIT, Kurukshetra better than CSE (computer science and engineering) at PEC University of Technology?

Ans. It's difficult to choose one between NIT Kurukshetra Civil and OEC Chandigarh CSE because both branches are different with diverse scopes and opportunities. You will have to consider a lot of parameters while choosing one of these Personally I will suggest you opt for the CS branch unless you have any specific inclination towards civil engineering or any other branch. The excellent placements of this branch are not the only reason I am suggesting you go for it. The courses taught are rather easy and can be covered through self-study which may not be possible for Civil.  You are aware of the academic situation of most engineering colleges these days. Most professors have no interest in teaching. I believe that if you can get CS in PEC you can also get CS in NIT Kurukshetra. It has a better alumni network so it's a better option than PEC. Civil students will have options like research internships, masters or Ph.D. later, get into IES, etc. Here is a comparison of a few statistics that might help you further make a well-informed decision. Parameters NIT Kurukshetra PEC Fees 1.6 Lakhs (BTech first year) 2.07 Lakhs (BTech first year) Ranking 58 out of 200 in 2023 101 out of 200 in 2023  Highest CTC INR 1.25 CPA Rs 64.5 LPA Average CTC INR 13.89 LPA Rs 13.5 LPA Top Recruiters ICICI Lombard, HCL Technologies, Microsoft, Adani Group Microsoft, RBS, Goldman Sachs In the end, your choice of college won’t matter much but how you spent your 4 years will. Read more

Ques. Which is better, IT at NIT Kurukshetra or CSE at PEC Chandigarh?

Ans. One of my cousins was in a similar dilemma last year when she had to choose between PEC and NIT Kurukshetra. Both the colleges are premier engineering colleges offering excellent education and are head-to-head in most factors. However, you may want to consider the following points before making the final decision  In terms of placements and the faculty pool, PEC fares better than NIT Kurukshetra.  Established in 1928, PEC has a richer legacy than NIT Kurukshetra which was established around 1963. NIT Kurukshetra has a bigger and more beautiful campus than PEC. NIT Kurukshetra offers the much coveted NIT tag which PEC does not. The final decision depends on personal factors like location and future prospects. If you are from Chandigarh choosing PEC will be better. Read more
