Don Bosco Institute of Technology Mumbai: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 7 Reviews

Admission to the college involves obtaining a statewide merit number, followed by a Common Admission Process (CAP) round that includes form filling, verification, and submission of an option form choosing preferred colleges and branches. Post-allotment, applicants can either secure or defer their admission choice, with final confirmation required at the allotted college. The Mechanical Department has a range of teaching quality, with senior professors being particularly knowledgeable. Faculty members hold advanced qualifications, including doctorates, and have an average of 7 to 8 years of teaching experience.

The curriculum includes eight one-hour lectures daily, using digital teaching methods. Tuition fees vary by category: Rs. 1,13,000 per year for general students, Rs. 62,000 for OBCs, and free for SC/ST/NT categories. CET admissions have reduced fees, while management quota admissions cost Rs. 1.25 lakhs annually. Scholarships are available for families earning less than Rs. 1 lakh annually. Additional event fees are separate from tuition. NAAC accreditation of B+ recently awarded could enhance company interest.

Placement rates are between 40%-60%, with higher success for IT and Computer Engineering than Mechanical Engineering. Recruiters include Amazon Web Services, Carwale, Accenture, Infosys, L&T InfoTech, and Hexaware, with salaries averaging Rs. 3-4 lakh per annum and the highest package at Rs. 9 lakh last year. Active job pursuit is necessary despite a placement cell, and core companies are lacking. Internships are mostly for final-year students with firms like TCS, Wipro, and Tata Consultancy Services.

Don Bosco Institute of Technology offers no internal scholarships but fee concessions exist for reserved categories and Economically Backward Classes. The Karnataka Government offers the Kar-e-pass scholarship for families earning less than Rs. 1 lakh, and Maharashtra-approved castes may receive government scholarships.
