National Institute of Technical Teachers Training & Research Chandigarh, formerly Regional Technical Teachers' Training Institute, is one of the RTTTI campuses located in Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai and Kolkata. The Chandigarh campus was established in the year 1967 by the ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. NITTTR Chandigarh is inviting applications to PhD Admission 2021. NITTTR, Chandigarh offers Regular and Modular Masters in Engineering (M.E.) programs and Ph.D. programs. The courses are approved by AICTE and affiliated to Panjab University, Chandigarh.
- While submitting the application form, candidates must furnish their maximum marks, and marks obtained in each semester/ year, in the application form in a given format.
- A certified copy of conversion formula in case of marks in grade points will be required.
- Candidate wishing to apply for more than one program or category must submit separate applications along with relevant certificates for each program/category.
- Selection of Ph.D. candidates will be done on the basis of presentation and/or interview conducted at the Institute only after the candidate has appeared and qualified in the Ph.D. Entrance Examination by the concerned university.
- Admission to Ph.D. is also possible any time during the year through institute’s Academic/ Research Degree Committee with the approval of the Director- NITTTR, Chandigarh for all categories.
- The institute’s Academic/ Research Degree Committee will assess the eligibility of candidates and recommend them for enrolment/registration to the university on the basis of their applications, following which admissions will be conducted.
- Selection for M.E. is based on marks scored in GATE.
- Candidates for the M.E. (Regular) programs are required to study for a minimum of 2 academic years (max. 3 years for completion), while M.E. (Modular) candidates are required to study for a minimum duration of 3.5 years with maximum 5.5 years allowed for course completion.

National Institute of Technical Teachers Training & Research, Chandigarh offers M.E. programs is various engineering disciplines, viz. Manufacturing Engineering (Mechanical), Construction Technology & Management (Civil), Instrumentation & Control (Electrical), Computer Science & Engineering, and Electronics & Communication Engineering. The basic eligibility criteria for admission to these courses is a B.E./ B. Tech degree in the relevant discipline with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks.
Selection of fresh engineering graduates is done on the basis of GATE/ any other entrance test score. Sponsored Polytechnic/ Engineering College Regular teachers/ officials of Directorates and Boards of Technical Education/ sponsored working professionals from industry or other organizations including technical staff of universities are selected on the basis of marks obtained in all the 8 semesters of their UG-level engineering degree program.

- Candidates seeking admission to ME programs under OBC category must furnish Fresh Affidavit (not more than six months old) from an Executive Magistrate at the time of counseling.
- In case of sponsored candidates, the merit is calculated in the following format:
Aggregate % of marks in BE or its equivalent multiplied by 0.4
- Those without a valid GATE score/ any other CET score must appear and qualify for Panjab University CET for M.E. admissions prior to filling the application form for NITTTR.

National Institute of Technical Teachers Training & Research, Chandigarh campus offers Ph.D. programs in the fields of Manufacturing Engineering, Construction Technology & Management, Computer Science & Engineering, Instrumentation & Control, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Engineering Education and Management.
The basic eligibility criteria for admission to the Ph.D. courses is a Master’s degree in Engineering Education or Master’s degree in Engineering/ Education/ Management. Candidates are further required to secure at least 60% or equivalent marks in aggregate in the qualifying exam. Selection of candidates is done on the basis of entrance test, followed by Presentation and Personal Interview.

- Candidates apply for Ph.D. must secure at least 60% marks in aggregate or a minimum CGPA of 6.75 on a 10 point scale.
- Those who have qualified the Ph.D. Entrance Examination by the concerned university are exempted from appearance in the entrance examination.
- All other candidates must appear for the entrance exam prior to Presentation & Interview.
NITTTR Application Process
National Institute of Technical Teachers Training & Research, Chandigarh campus accepts applications from eligible candidates for admission to its M.E. and Ph.D. programs through online mode. However, candidates also have the option to download the application form from the institute website. Then send a duly filled copy of the same, along with relevant documents, to the institute campus before the last date.
The application process in details is as follows:
- Login to institute website www.nitttrchd.ac.in and fill the online application form.
- Candidates who have downloaded the application form from the institute website must print it and fill all relevant columns before submission.
- Candidates applying through hard copy must obtain a demand draft of Rs.1000/- drawn in favor of ‘Director, NITTR’ payable at Chandigarh. The same must be submitted along with the duly filled application form and relevant documents at the institute’s admission cell.
- Incomplete applications (partially furnished documents/ application fee not paid) or applications that have been received after the last date will not be considered.
- Candidates applying online must send a hard copy of the ‘application printout’ along with attested copies of relevant documents to the institute campus.
- The application fee in case of online applications can be paid online using credit/ debit card or net-banking. No other mode of payment is entertained other than the approved online payment modes (card payment/ netbanking) and payments made via demand draft.

Candidates are required to enclose attested photocopies of the following documents along with their applications in order to complete the application process:-
- Certificate of Matriculation/Senior Secondary Leaving Certificate as a proof of date of birth
- Certificates of Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent
