The reviewer joined Midnapore Day College (Autonomous) for a B.Sc. Mathematics Honours program after securing admission based on their Class 12 CGPA. The college is noted for its mixed-quality faculty, with around 25 lecturers who generally help simplify complex topics. The curriculum is relevant and exams are challenging, yet most students pass. The fee structure is semester-based, costing between 2,000 to 4,000 rupees for science subjects and more for lab-based courses.
The overall program fee is around 5,700 rupees per semester, with an annual total of about 10,000 rupees including various fees. The college's placement cell, while not providing direct job placements, organizes camps where over 50% of students secure jobs from companies like TCS, Wipro, and Jio, with salaries ranging from 4 to 8 lakh INR annually. Internships are not offered, but students can engage in higher studies at prestigious institutions post-graduation.
Scholarships and financial aid are available, including the Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means scholarship, offering up to 24,000 rupees annually, and a science-specific scholarship of approximately 60,000 rupees per annum. Despite the availability of these scholarships, some students find them insufficient. Overall, while the college provides a solid academic foundation and some placement opportunities, the fee structure and limited direct placements are areas of concern.
