Indian Institute of Horticulture is an institute headquartered in Bangalore, Karnataka. Established in 1967, the institute is a subsidiary of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research.

The institute also won the Best Institute Award by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research. Also, the institute won the Sardar Patel Outstanding ICAR Institution Award.

IIHR offers a three-year full-time Ph.D. in Horticulture. Students with Post Graduation Degree in Plant Pathology can apply for admission to the course.

IIHR Bangalore Ph.D. in Horticulture Admission 2024

The institute provides a three year full-time Ph.D. degree in Horticulture. The examination is conducted by IARI Indian Agricultural Research Institute. Students with a Post Graduation Degree in the Plant Pathology can apply for admission.

IIHR Bangalore Ph.D. in Horticulture Eligibility Criteria

  • The candidate should have a Master’s degree in plant pathology from a recognized university
  • He/she must not be working below the rank of assistant professor or scientist in ICAR.
  • They should score at least 60% aggregate (general category) and 55% aggregate for reserved candidates (SC/ST) in their Master’s degree.
  • The students must be at least 21 years of age at the time of admission.

IIHR Bangalore Ph.D. in Horticulture Selection Criteria

  • The selection of the candidates is on the basis of academic records, entrance examination and interview.
  • 10% weightage would be given to the marks secured by the candidate in their previous educational qualifications.
  • 80% weightage would be given to the performance of the candidate in the entrance examination. To qualify for the interview the minimum marks required by the candidate are 50% for general and 45% for reserved category students.
  • Those qualifying the entrance examination shall be called for the interview. Four candidates will be interviewed for every one seat and the best one shall be shortlisted.

  • Visit the official website at https://www.iari.res.in/ 
  • Fill in all the necessary details and register.
  • Complete the application process by filling all the information.
  • Upload scanned images of candidate’s signatures and a passport-size photograph.
  • Pay the application fee online i.e. INR 1000/-.
  • Print the application form on completing and mail it to the Registrar, PG School, IARI New Delhi.

Ques. Does the institute provide hostel facilities to the students?

Ans. Yes, the institute provides hostel facilities for the students. Dr. S Ayappan inaugurated the ‘Arkavathi Student Hostel’. The students are allotted hostels on the basis of merit i.e. on the basis of their ranks. The hostels have good infrastructure with proper facilities and amenities along with the provision of hygienic and nutritious meals.
