What facilities do IISER TVM provide to its Students?

The campus has well-equipped facilities for teaching, research and student activities like Academic facilities, Student facilities, Health Centre, Guest House, Faculty and Staff Housing. IISER TVM is a fully residential campus with hostels provided for male and female students. There are two Dining Halls as part of the hostel complex, in addition to other eateries. An Indoor Stadium, in addition to outdoor courts, provides sports facilities. There are several other recreation areas for cultural activities. The well-equipped health centre has staff round the clock. An ambulance is available in case of emergencies that need immediate medical care in a bigger hospital. The residential complex in Kattippara provides housing for the faculty and staff of the institute. Security staff are available round the clock. ATMs of the State Bank of Travancore (SBT) & Canara Bank are available on the Campus. Housekeeping staff to clean the common areas.

What is the Eligibility for admission into the Integrated PhD Program in IISER TVM?

The Integrated PhD programme is an Integrated research programme of a Master of Science and a PhD degree. The first three semesters will consist of core and elective courses specialised in one subject (Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics). The fourth semester will consist of advanced courses and project work. After the successful completion of comprehensive and project work, the student will continue with research leading to the PhD degree. To get admission into this course, Candidates need a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences and related areas. Candidates admitted to the School of Physics must have a valid score in the Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST). The minimum requirement for admission to the programme is 55% marks or 6.0 out of 10 CGPA in the Bachelor's degree (as declared by the University). Relaxation of eligibility criteria for SC/ST and PD applicants will be made according to the Government of India rules.

There are a few Scholarships offered by IISER TVM through the NSP Portal as mentioned futher. Firstly, its National Fellowship and Scholarship for Higher Education of ST Students is a Central Sector Scheme launched by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs. The objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to meritorious students belonging to the Scheduled Tribes (ST), thereby encouraging them to pursue higher education. Students who wish to avail the benefits of this scheme must submit their application through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). The portal is now open for applications for the academic year 20252026. Secondly,The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment Government of India invites applications for the National Scholarship for Higher Education for Scheduled Caste students from Meritorious SC students.Lastly, its Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment Department of Persons with Disabilities (PwD) where a person having not less than 40% disability and having a disability certificate issued by any competent medical authority may apply.

Best research institute in world

Placement Experience:

Placement cell are not established yet and this year they will start on campus placement before that they are connecting online with companies to students and they got placed but I think this year they will develop a placement cell . In this college most of the student pursue higher education rather than taking jobs so this the thing and employability is around 95-98% from given data and placement cell is not established but most students pursue higher education so there is not avg package but median package is there 18lpa of 2021-2022 and 8 lpa of 2022-2023 .my plans after getting my degree is to pursue mba from IIM ahemdabad or Stanford or Harvard any of them .

Placement isn't very appealing many opt for PhDs abroad after passing out that's what it can give you at best is a seat in a famous college abroad but in terms of placements its not that good wrt money.

IISER TVM through my eyes

Students are eligible for the placement in their final year of the course. We have BS-MS, MSc, IPhD and PhD currently. Students from BS-MS are more likely to be placed. Though placement is less as students mostly go for research after masters. We have a placement cell that notifies about the opportunities in industries and academia. As my plans are to pursue a PhD after getting this degree so I never got interested in placement opportunity.

We can do our internships either under a faculty of our college or somewhere outside in some other universities. We can do as many internships as we want in our interesting subjects/ topics. Within the campus, we can do internships either through the sem or during winter break. We have a summer break of 3 months after each year during which we can do internships at some other universities.

We have the opportunity to do internships under professors as well as most apply for internships outside the campus in institutes like IITs, IISc, NITs, IISERs, etc. at least once in these 5 years. Those who do internships in companies are low. Some also do internships abroad. Each professor has their labs doing different research which gives us a lot of options in our branch. They also give a letter of recommendation if we want to do it outside.
