The Central Board of Secondary Education is allowing fruits, water, and medicine to diabetic students appearing in the board exam this year.

New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) examination 2024 is starting on February 15, 2024. The Board has announced that diabetic students who are appearing in the Class 10 and Class 12 Board Exams are allowed to take a few supplies with them inside the exam hall.

Supplies Permitted to be Carried Along with the Diabetic Student
The board has permitted the following supplies;
- Candy, Chocolate, or Sugar Tablets.
- Fruits like Apple, Orange, and Banana.
- Medicines as per the Doctor’s prescription
- Water Bottle
- Glucose Monitoring Machine, Flash Glucose Monitoring Machine, and insulin pumps.
- Snak items like sandwiches or any high-protein diet.
According to Dr Atul Kakar, the Senior consultant at the Department of Internal Medicine at Ganga Ram Hospital; “students appearing in the examination can carry fruit salad made of apple, orange, pear, and banana or they can take a sandwich during the examination.”
CBSE Diabetic Standard Operating Procedures
Students who are availing of the facilities must follow the below-mentioned Standard Operating Procedures:
- Students should upload the recommendations of the Medical Specialist for CGM/FGM/Insulin pump while examination.
- Parents should undertake the equipment and there is no way it is a communication device that may risk the safety of the examination.
- The student should provide the information that they are suffering from Type-1 Diabetes during the registration of examination.
- The facilities will be given to students only if they apply as per the schedule issued by CBSE.
- Students should approach the exam center at least one day before the start of the examination to inform the Centre Superintendent about the items to be carried by the students.
- On the day of the exam, the student should arrive at least 45 minutes before the allotted time.
- All the requests will be routed through the school with the required documents. No direct request will be taken into consideration.
- All the equipment(s) that are not attached to the body of the student will be kept near the Assistant Superintendent/Invigilator transparently and can be taken by the student whenever needed.
