IISER Kolkata PhD Admission 2026 Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the program, a candidate must hold a Master’s degree (or B.E./B.Tech./M.Tech./MBBS) in a relevant field with at least 55% aggregate marks. For those applying after a 4-year Bachelor’s degree, a minimum of 75% aggregate marks is required.

It is important to note that a relaxation of 5% in marks is provided to candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC-NCL, EWS, and PwD categories. Additionally, applicants must have qualified in a National Level Eligibility Examination (such as GATE, CSIR-UGC NET JRF/LS, DBT-JRF, ICMR-JRF, or INSPIRE fellowship) to be considered for the selection process.

The selection process involves initial shortlisting based on academic records and national exam scores. Shortlisted candidates must then clear a Selection Interview conducted by the respective departments.
