JEE Advanced 2024 and BITSAT Session 1 Dates Clash; Causes Concern Among Students

New Delhi: The Joint Entrance Examination Advanced (JEE Advanced 2024) and the Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test (BITSAT 2024) session 1 exams are scheduled on the same date, leading to a clash between the two exams. IIT Madras has scheduled the JEE Advanced 2024 exam for May 26, 2024, while BITS Pilani has set the BITSAT 2024 session 1 from May 21 to 26, 2024. This overlap challenges candidates intending to appear for both the renowned entrance exams.

The BITSAT 2024 session 2 is slated for June 22-26, 2024, causing apprehension among aspirants due to its occurrence after the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling process, which is tentatively set to commence on June 10, 2024. The conflicting schedules of the two exams are yet to be resolved, and an announcement is yet to be made regarding their postponement.

Exam details further reveal that JEE Advanced Paper 1 is scheduled from 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon, with Paper 2 from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Meanwhile, BITSAT exam slots encompass two daily sessions – the first from 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon and the second from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

Despite the clash, no official update on potential rescheduling for either JEE Advanced or BITSAT 2024 exists. BITS Pilani's registration closes on April 11, 2024, with IIT Madras opening applications on April 21, 2024. Notably, male candidates applying for BITSAT sessions 1 and 2 face a substantial fee of INR 5,400, while females pay INR 4,400, sparking comparisons with other exams where fees are significantly lower. Nevertheless, BITS has retained last year's fee structure. JEE Advanced 2024 registration fees have increased to INR 3,200 for general candidates, with SC, ST, PwD, and female candidates paying INR 1,600.

The eligibility criteria for JEE Advanced 2024 include the top 2,50,000 candidates across categories based on their JEE Main 2024 performance in the BE, BTech paper. Additionally, IIT Madras has introduced a sports quota, labeled 'Sports Excellence Admission' (SEA), for undergraduate programs, allowing JEE Main 2024 qualifiers with at least one medal in national or international-level sports competitions in the last four years to be considered under this category.
