JEE Advanced 2024: Candidate Finds Flaw in Exam Software, IIT Madras Takes Action

IIT Madras authority informed Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), who was responsible for running the JEE (Advanced) 2024 about the flaw in HID as reported by the student. However, the TCS found no evidence of it.

New Delhi: A candidate who took the JEE Advanced 2024 on May 26, 2024, discovered a big flaw with the exam software. In a social media post tagging IIT Madras, he emphasized how important it is to perform robust testing. IIT Madras was the conducting body for the JEE Advance 2024.

The examinee stated, "Yesterday, I took the JEE adv exam and noticed a problem with the test software. I think these clues are enough..! It's a simple mistake in the HID interface."

The flaw, described as a "simple mistake" in the Human Interface Device (HID) setup, seems to be a problem that could affect how the exam works.

Even though the student could have asked for a reward for finding the flaw, he chose to tell IIT Madras about it through social media without anything in return. He said about the work of Professor V Kamakoti, "I could have asked for rewards, but because I'm a fan of Professor V Kamakoti's work ??, I'll do it for free," the student said.

IIT Madras Takes Action Against Flaw in Exam Software

When IIT Madras saw the social media post, the authority informed Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), who was responsible for running the JEE (Advanced) 2024. TCS iON looked at the tweet on social media platform X.

Here's what they said: "Each student gets a computer randomly at the exam place. They can only use the computer they're given. No one can use another student's computer, and if they try, the system stops them. Everything the student does is recorded on our servers. We checked the logs and permissions from the tweet, and we didn't find any problem."
