Rajasthan: Schools to Reopen for Class 10-12 Students from Nov 2

Rajasthan Education Department has decided to re-open schools for std 10-12th from November 2, 2020. The schools for all classes in the nation were shut down in March 2020 as a part of the lockdown due to the pandemic.

A proposal of re-opening along with the guidelines that will be followed by the institutions have been sent to the state government and the education department is waiting for their approval. 

According to the official proposal, schools in Rajasthan will open in three phases and as per, the first phase, only the classes or 10th to 12th will take place.

The second phase will include the commencement of classes 6-8 and the last phase which is likely to be executed from January 1, 2021, will include students of classes 1-5.

However, all the classes will be conducted with a strict following of the COVID-19 SOPS and guidelines issued by the state government. 

SOPS for School Re-opening

An official SOP that consisted of all the guidelines has been issued by the Education department. It has been sent to the state government also. 

According to the guidelines, schools and premises have to be sanitized well before the school re-opens. Institutions must take care of the regular sanitization even after the classes start.

An arrangement must be made inside the school for the students to wash their hands and maintain personal hygiene. Students must also be encouraged to use the foot-operated sanitizer which will be provided by the institution.

Every student and staff has to wear a mask compulsorily and it must be ensured that students use their own books and stationeries in the classroom. 

No cultural or public programmes will take place in schools. The authorities must keep the contacts of medical aid and nearby hospitals which can be contacted in case of emergency.

Remarks from Officials: 

The education Minister of Rajasthan Govind Singh Dotasra has conducted two meetings with the Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot to discuss the reopening of schools. 

While keeping forth the layout for the same, Dotasra mentioned: “The department will take a final call on the reopening of schools for Class X and XII on Sunday. For other classes, a committee will decide whether the schools will be reopened or not”.

He further added, “Every school has to be compulsorily sanitised before opening No public programmes will be allowed and every school will have to keep a proper arrangement of medical aid and contact details of nearby hospitals.”
