Taking the cue from the CBSE, the Uttar Pradesh government cut the syllabus for the current academic session by 30% on the basis of the number of working days of the schools on Thursday.

The reduced syllabus will be run by the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Board for classes IX to XII.

The government will run classes on the remaining 70% syllabus, which is divided into three sections, and Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma said on Thursday.

In the first part, class-wise, subject-wise and chapter-wise videos will be made, which will be shown during online classes, and circulated through Doordarshan among students.

The second part will be made up of study material that students can study on their own. And the third part will be project work to be done by the students.

Sharma said that experts were asked to come up with an academic time table.

On this basis, an academic calendar and a concurrent curriculum will be drawn up.

Accordingly, the government has indicated that Sharma will come up with standard operating procedures for teaching, evaluating and monitoring at district, division and state level.

Subject experts have been asked to make a class-wise, subject-wise and lesson-wise question bank database, which will be uploaded to the website of the Higher Education Board, he said.

This will be assessed on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
