How is AIIMS Nagpur??

AIIMS, Nagpur, is part of a prestigious group of public medical schools known as the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, which are recognized as Institutes of National Importance. This status was established by a 1956 Act of Parliament. AIIMS Nagpur was one of the four new institutes announced in the 2014-15 budget under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana.

The foundation stone was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at a site in MIHAN, with several notable figures, including Nitin Gadkari, in attendance. The main goals of AIIMS include addressing regional disparities in access to affordable, reliable healthcare and enhancing the quality of medical education across India.

The OPD is mostly finished, and about 80% of the college and hospital work is also completed.

I'm currently in my first year of MBBS at AIIMS Nagpur. Our campus is situated in MIHAN, a Special Economic Zone by the Government of India, located about 10 km from Nagpur Airport on Wardha Road. It's super easy to get to the city thanks to the metro train, with Khapri Metro Station just a 5-minute walk from our college.

Let me tell you a bit about AIIMS Nagpur:

Campus: When you first arrive at this top-notch institute, the impressive infrastructure grabs your attention. Spanning 150 acres, the campus is home to OPD, IPD, and Emergency Buildings, all surrounded by beautiful greenery and well-maintained spaces. Our auditorium stands out as the most stunning building, hosting cultural and official events.

Academics: From the moment the orientation program starts, you understand why AIIMS has such a national reputation. The education quality, faculty professionalism, and focus on understanding concepts make you feel like you're in a prestigious place. Practicals aren't just routine; they're for building skills.

College Life: College isn't just about academics; it's about the experience. For me, AIIMS Nagpur has been amazing. Meeting people from all over India and learning about diverse cultures and ideas is something special that INIs offer. Studying with top professors while having the freedom to live independently is the perfect mix. Plus, we're close to IIM, so we get to enjoy their festivals too.

Culturals: Our MBBS 2023 batch joined in September, right before the festive season. We've celebrated almost every Indian festival, from Janmashtami and Ganesh Utsav to our annual fest Hallucia, Garba night, Deepawali, Pongal, Sankranti, and more. It's been a blast!

Sports Facilities: AIIMS Nagpur has great sports amenities. We have a cricket ground, football field, indoor badminton courts, table tennis, billiards, volleyball courts, and a basketball court.

Hostel Life: There are currently five hostels for MBBS students. Boys have three hostels, Charak, Keshav, and Sushrut. Initially, we stay in double rooms with shared bathrooms for the first 1.5 years, then move to single rooms with attached washrooms. The rooms are just like you'd imagine—bright, airy, clean, and spacious, almost like a 3-star hotel. The boys' hostels have their own unique stories too!
