I completed my Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering from Vidyalankar Institute of Technology. Upon graduation, I was fortunate enough to receive a placement offer with a package of 7-8 lakhs per annum, with the highest package going up to 37.5 lakhs. The college has a good reputation for placements, and many companies visit the campus. The fees were reasonable, especially as I availed the OBC scholarship, which helped lessen the burden on my family.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering in Information Technology from Vidyalankar Institute of Technology. After completing my degree, I received a placement with an average package of around 4-4.5 lakhs per annum, with the highest package being 37 lakhs. The college has a strong placement cell that starts placements from the 7th semester, which really helped me secure my job. I also had the benefit of scholarships, which reduced my fees significantly, so that was a plus!
Hey there! I graduated from Vidyalankar Institute of Technology in Wadala in 2014 with a First Class. Unfortunately, I didn't land a job through campus placements. Here’s why:
I didn't really prepare for interviews because I was juggling a part-time job to cover my tuition fees. Without proper preparation, I got turned down in my first campus interview with Igate Global (formerly Patni Computers). In hindsight, I'm kind of glad because I might have ended up in a less-than-ideal MNC job in Bangalore.
VIT mainly attracts top MNCs and some smaller local companies for campus recruitment, like TCS, Infosys, and Quinnox, along with a few from the Navi Mumbai area. Typically, the salary packages offered are around 3 to 3.25 LPA, and the job locations can vary, not necessarily in Mumbai.
My advice would be to aim for colleges like TSEC or VESIT. These institutions give you a better platform to showcase your skills and apply to top-tier companies.
Back when I was in my final year, only a handful of companies, such as TCS, Igate, Oracle, and a few smaller ones, came for placements. I missed the chance to interview with TCS because the aptitude tests stretched late into the night, and I decided to skip it. I got rejected at Igate, and after that, I opted out of campus interviews altogether.
Consider TSEC, KJ Somaiya, or VESIT for better placement opportunities.
Hey there. I'm in my last semester of Electronics Engineering at Vidyalankar Institute of Technology, Wadala. I got an offer from Capgemini as an Analyst through their campus recruitment, and the salary package is 3.8 LPA. In some Mumbai colleges, Capgemini offers two roles with different pay.
I also received an offer from JARO for a Business Development Associate role, which comes with a 6.5 LPA package. After chatting with some seniors, I've chosen to go with Capgemini.
Our placement season kicked off in the first week of July 2020, with carwale.com being the first company to arrive, offering a package of 7.5 LPA. Most companies that visit us focus on technology, mainly software, and prefer students from CS or IT branches. But there are exceptions like TCS, Capgemini, LTI, and other service-oriented companies.
If you're not from a CS or IT branch, many product-based companies might not consider you eligible, even if you have the skills. I do believe this will change in the future, as more people now have a basic knowledge of Computer Science.
Good luck. Feel free to connect with me on LinkedIn.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Telecom Engineering from Vidyalankar Institute of Technology. After my course, I managed to secure a placement with an average package of around 4-5 lakhs per annum. However, I noticed that many of my peers opted for higher studies instead of immediate placements. The college offers various scholarships, which helped me pay a reduced fee of around 77,000 as an OBC student. Overall, my experience was quite good, especially with the faculty's support during exams.
