DTU B.Tech Mechanical Engineering stands out with its impressive faculty, rigorous curriculum, and top-notch placements, attracting big names like Google and Microsoft, with an average package of around 16 LPA. In contrast, Thapar University BE Computer Engineering has a solid reputation, but lacks the same level of industry connections and placement statistics. Campus life is vibrant at DTU with numerous fests and sports facilities, making it an overall enriching experience. If you’re aiming for high-paying placements and a dynamic campus life, DTU is the clear choice; however, if you prefer a more focused environment, Thapar could work for you.

DTU's B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering offers impressive placement stats with top companies like Google and Amazon frequently hiring students, resulting in an average package of 16 LPA and a placement rate of 87%. In contrast, Thapar University’s BE in Computer Engineering, while also reputable, doesn’t match the sheer volume of big-name recruiters or the average salary figures I found for DTU. Internships at DTU are abundant, with major firms providing lucrative stipends, which further enhances job prospects. Therefore, if you're looking for better job and package opportunities, DTU is the clear winner, while Thapar may be suited for those more interested in a balanced academic experience in a supportive environment.

Always prioritize branch over college. Choose CSE at Thapar instead of Mechanical at DTU. Here’s why:

  • Mechanical Engineering is highly saturated.
  • There are almost no placements for Mechanical graduates.
  • CSE offers much better scope in all aspects—research, placements, etc.

Make the smart choice!

Mechanical Engineering at DTU is definitely superior to Mechanical at Thapar. Here’s why:

  • Established Reputation: Mechanical is one of the oldest branches at DTU, boasting experienced professors and well-equipped labs.
  • Research Opportunities: DTU has numerous technical teams engaged in research and projects related to mechanical and automobile engineering.
  • Better Placement Prospects: The strong industry connections and reputation of DTU lead to better placement opportunities.

So, if you’re considering Mechanical Engineering, DTU is the clear choice over Thapar!

Thapar’s CSE cutoff will be around 165 or below by the final rounds, while DTU’s Mechanical will definitely be under 4-5k. So, think about where you’ll find better peers.

  • DTU is one of the most revered institutes in India. Thapar, despite being 60 years old, is still seen as just another private university. It’s honestly crazy to compare DTU with Thapar.
  • Thapar’s intake for CSE is over 400. You’ll get lost in that huge crowd. And look at their fees—more than 3 lakhs per annum!
  • Thapar’s internet connection is really poor. That matters a lot. DTU has at least 200 times faster internet than Thapar.
  • Thapar students will definitely laugh at you if you join Thapar after leaving DTU’s Mechanical.

Make your choice wisely!
