IIT Delhi's B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing offers superior placement prospects compared to IIT Guwahati's B.Tech in Chemical Science and Technology. The rigorous curriculum at IIT Delhi equips students for high-paying roles in tech and finance, with top companies like Microsoft and Jane Street recruiting heavily, and last year's highest package hitting an impressive 4 crore. On the other hand, while IIT Guwahati has a solid reputation, the job market for Chemical Science tends to be narrower, focusing more on traditional industries. Therefore, if you're aiming for lucrative tech and quant roles, IIT Delhi is the way to go, but if you have a passion for chemical sciences and want to explore that field, IIT Guwahati could be a better fit.

IIT Delhi's B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing offers a significantly better return on investment when compared to IIT Guwahati's B.Tech in Chemical Science and Technology. The fees at IIT Delhi are around 1,00,000 per semester, and with high placement rates—93% last year and packages soaring up to 4 crores—students see substantial financial returns. In contrast, while IIT Guwahati might have a lower initial fee structure, the placement statistics and average salary packages in Chemical Science and Technology tend to lag behind those in tech and finance roles, which dominate at IIT Delhi. So, if you're looking for a high-paying career in tech or finance, IIT Delhi is the clear choice, while IIT Guwahati may be better suited for those passionate about chemical sciences but seeking a less competitive environment.

The placements for B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing from IIT Guwahati have been phenomenal! Roles range from Software Developer, R&D Engineer, Strategy Analyst to Consultant, etc. In 2019, major recruiters included Goldman Sachs, Samsung Research (SRIB), Amazon India, Adobe, Directi, Novi Digital (Hotstar), Credit Suisse, HP, VMWare, and FICO. The highest package was around 30 LPA, with the lowest being 7–8 LPA, averaging about 15 LPA. This compares favorably to the median package of 15.59 LPA from the Computer Science branch, which are spectacular figures! Additionally, 50% of students from the 2019 batch secured internships in their third year, with major companies being Adobe, Samsung, Goldman Sachs, Microsoft, Amazon, and Flipkart.

Personally, I would recommend Mathematics and Computing over many branches, but if you have a chance at Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Guwahati, I would probably suggest considering that option instead of Mathematics and Computing.

IIT Delhi's B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing offers a rigorous curriculum with a strong focus on mathematics and computer science, making it ideal for those looking to enter tech or finance, especially with its impressive placement stats like a 4 crore package from Jane Street. In contrast, IIT Guwahati's B.Tech in Chemical Science and Technology might not have as high-profile placements, but it sets a solid foundation in chemical sciences with decent campus life and faculty. If you love math and want to venture into quantitative fields or tech, IIT Delhi is the clear winner. However, if you prefer a balanced approach to chemistry and technology with a supportive environment, IIT Guwahati would be a good fit. I'd personally lean towards IIT Delhi for its better placement opportunities and curriculum if I were in your shoes.
