Remarks
Positive things are that it is considered to the best private engineering college in pune, placements are pretty good. Good exposure is provided to the students. Faculty are good, helpful and cooperative. Cons are that the campus area is way too small, no proper playing groumds, lack of proper infrastructure.
Course Curriculum Overview
Being an autonomous college, the course curriculum gets updated every year which is the biggest plus point our college. They chamge syllabus according to the needs of industry so the students get the required skills and are hired directly at the time of placements. Exam structures are complicated and it includes a lot of stuff. For eg written exam only contributes 30% of the marks, rest is through course project, presentations, viva etc. Recently a change is being made and instead of conducting subjective type exams they had moved to objective type pattern for better understanding the students.
Placement Experience
Placements are good. Especially for the circuit branches such as comp, IT, ENTC, etc. Recently the college claimed the placements of its 4 college students in Microsoft with a yearly package of 53.5 lakhs. A number of other reputed companies do visit the college. One check the complete list on the official website. It was made compulsory to do internships which college provides and if one does well in it he/she may land up getting job also in the same company. Stipends are also provided in some the internships. One can gain a very good experience of working in the corporate world by working in these internships and it make them ready for the placements.
College Events
A number of events are conducted throughout the year which may be fests, technical events or non technical events. But there are mainly 3 major events in the college. The 1st to come is Vishwakarndak followed by Melange and Vishwautsav. In Vishwakarndak it is fest of the college mostly limited to the college itself and sports are held within the college whereas in Melange it becomes inter college. Vishwakarndak is another in which no sports activities but dressing, drama and lot of stuff happens.
Fee Structure And Facilities
For my batch it is 1 lakh and 50 thousands but the upcoming batches are paying 1lakh 80 thousanda and it keeps on increasing year by year. But still i think it is worth it you are able to land up a good placement at he end of 4 years. Comparing to other colleges colleges fees is feasible.
Fees and Financial Aid
A number of scholarships are provided. Students mainly from the state Maharashtra can avail these scholarships or through the EBCs quote. A student section is provided for the students to get the details regarding these. Moreover some the students through category gets complete scholarships by the state amd central governments. Some also get rebates for hostel accommodations.
Campus Life
Extracurricular activities are up to the mark. One can hardly think of any activitiy that is important and our college not having any club for for it.Some of these club are very good like IEEE, veloce raciing, Robotics etc and conducts their eventa in a well orgainised structure and maintains the standard.Sufficient Labs are also there but some of the labs are not updated. Funds also come for research work from government and private sponsors are also there for labs such as Nividia lab. Sports activities happen but only twice in a year. Being less space in campus area it doesn't seems to be the priority here.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel infrastructure is good but the rent for it is way too high. I have not opted for hostel and lived in PG for first year and then currently living in a flat, it is way more affordable than the college hostel. In hostel it provides free wifi, 2 students for a room, basic facilities like wardrobe etc. Separate hostel for boys and girls.
Alumni/Alumna
VIT has got a very strong alumni network. Some notable alumni are Mahesh Kale, singer and other people which one can find one the college official website. Senior students are cooperative and more like friends rather than seniors. There is nothing sort of ragging in this college. But one needs to establish the connections with the seniors in order to get help from them. In many club activities like in our college there is Robotics forum, IEEE, Veloce racing etc where all year students work together and help each other. Its more sort of a fun learning.
Admission
I have applied for 4 year Btech course in year 2018.I came through All India Category. Merit list was generated based on jee mains score. I did the offline counselling in Maharashtra. As i was non-maharashtrian and my college being in Pune i had to come twice to the state for the counselling process, first for FC and then for ARC.There are mainly 4 ways to get admission in the college for pursuing Btech. First through mhcet score, the state common entrance exam, 2nd through jee mains score that is from All India category, note Maharashtrians can also apply through this category, then 3rd through diploma directly joining in 2nd year. And 4th option is through management quota. As i applied through all india quota, i had to provide my jee mains scorecard and other necessary documents. A merit list is generated based among the students applied for the engineering Maharashtra state counselling and accordingly seats are allocated based on the preferences a candidate had applied for.
Faculty
Faculty may not seem impressive in the 1st year but as soon we move to higher years the quality of faculty sees an exponential rise. Some the lectures are very good and all the faculty from 2nd year are good and experienced. They give proper attention to the students and do care for them.
