Course Curriculum Overview
The university is KTU( Kerala Technological University), which was formed recently, about 4-5 years ago. KTU consists of almost all engineering colleges in Kerala and so has the potential to be a reputed university. The syllabus is quite reformed from the Kerala University syllabus, made quite easier. There have been complaints about the Uni exams being tough at the start of the university but recrntly all have been fair. That said, there are many flaws with the university.
Placement Experience
One of the bonuses that you get with SCT compared to other engineering colleges is that there is a good placement unit. If you clear your papers alright, you get placed. The college management itself does not provide any internships but the college is in Trivandrum city. Explore the technopark and get yourself an internship
College Events
Like I said, wanna have a memorable college, there is SCT for you. Cult A Way, is the college techno-cultural festival, about which you might have heard. Every memorable occasion is celebrated. SCT is heaven.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee is very much affordable. There are govt seats and management seats. The govt fee is about 40k per year and management fee is about 75k per year. If you are to be a hosteller, there would be extra expense
Fees and Financial Aid
I dont know much about scholarships offered by the college. One thing I know is that there is zero fee for the students who are at the top of the merit list. Anyways, there are a lot of scholarship schemes offered by the kerala govt and the central govt which can be availed easily.
Campus Life
Although there is no big ground or campus at SCT, extracurricular activities are abundant. The mechanical department labs are very good. The other department labs are alright but not that great. The sports meet takes place @ the university ground in Trivandrum. The Arts day function is called 'Sargam,Chitram,Thaalam'.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni network is pretty good. I have witnessed the EC alumni investing in the EC department labs. The alumni provides support to the placement cell. The senior students are very much helpful and provide good advices.
Admission
Attended KEAM ( Kerala Enginnering Admission Test) Merit list is prepared by the Kerala Govt education body. Before allotment, students are instructed to give choice of colleges under KEAM. About 4 allotments take place.
Faculty
I am pursuing Electronics & Communication course. I would say the EC faculty is below average but the the most sort after department in SCT ie, the mechanical department has a good faculty that will give you proper guidance. Although I admit that the EC faculty are not that great, the teachers are helpful and will provide you with proper guidance
