There are positives as well as negative in every college not in my college though. Positive is the environment provides a suitable condition for studying as well as the hostellites also creates the environment for fun and merriment. Negative is that u have restrictions to go outside of the campus after 10, this I finds it boring and even you cannot roam inside the campus being a student after 9 or so.

The institute being one of the oldest and greatest in the nation constantly exercises regular board meetings to keep it's curriculum updates and it's students motivated. One can blindly trust the institute that the course and content it offers in all the departments are world class and as per recent industry standards which is a plus point. The institute constantly engages itself with several govt. Bodies and industries for research and development.Exam structure for undergraduate studies comprises of 8 semesters distributed over 4 years for bachelor of engineering course for civil, elec, mech, aerospace, met, mining, cs, it streams and 10 semesters distributed over 5 years for bachelor of architecture course. Msc., Phd, Mba and M. Tech courses are as per industry standards.

The overall placement scenario in IIEST Shibpur is improving day by day. The rich alumni base of IIEST (formerly BESU) and its hardworking placement cell are the major factors for this. The placement scenario is at its best for the IT department, and more than 80% of students get placed. Mass recruiters like Wipro, TCS, Cognizant and major IT companies like Microsoft, Adobe, Google etc., visit our campus for recruitment.

IIEST SHIBPUR hosts numerous events throughout its academic session. REBECCA, INSTROU, GYANDHARA, OIKOTAAN. These are events as a whole. There are also departmental events too. METALLUM, UDBHABANI, INTIUM. IIEST SHIBPUR has had the honour of hosting these one-time events. INDO-US ROBOT LEAGUE, ROBODARSHAN, Aeromodelling, the Kolkata comic carnival site, TED x.

Fee structure for undergraduate(B.E.) course annually are as follows: 10,200 Rs(for day scholars) 10,200+1900 Rs=12,100(for hostel boarders) hostel fees: 21,000 Rs for hall residence, i.e. 3500 Rs per semester(6 months) for hostel residence, it is 3000x6= 18000 Rs per semester.

Yes there's availability of scholarship as well as loan facilities. One gets the scholarship on the basis of academic performance as well as the conditions the student is going through, one is extremely and don't have that adequate money to pay the institute fees, GABESU provides them the scholarship but they give only to the needs. Yes the loan facility is being introduced 1½ years ago. Now students no longer will be suffering as the interest to give to so much minimal.

There are lots of extracurricular activities held in IIEST SHIBPUR. it's being conducted each and every year. Besides sports are being organised every year.and also there are various hostel sports activities ,and more likely to happen within 6 months.Labs needs to be refurbished with new equipment's and also needs an immediate change in the infrastructure in the labs.

Infrastructure wise, the college is average. However, it is improving day by day. The hostels are average when compared to the ones which have been built recently as they are really good. Wi-Fi connection is good in hostels. Labs are modern and well-equipped. The library is well organised. There's a hospital on our campus which is available 24x7. I would rate the infrastructure 3.5 out of 5.The campus is lush green. It is largely stretched and has various water bodies. There are various buildings. There is a boxing ring, basketball court, gymnasium, two large grounds, students' amenities centre, halls and swimming pool. The connectivity of the college to Kolkata and Sector V is very good. Extracurricular activities are highly promoted in our college.

We have a decent notable alumni which are helpful in various situai, they indeed are helpful in studying and provides opportunities to the students when they have the chance to fill the vacancy of any job. Our senior students are helpful too but not all of them are,but mostly are likely to help the Juniors.The institute being among the oldest has a diverse and a wide alumni base spread over all parts of the world and the institute boasts a strong alumni-student relationship that is immensely helpful.

I got admission in IIEST SHIBPUR through JEE MAINS. Admission in the following courses is accepted on the basis of valid state/national level entrance exam scores. For the undergraduate programmes in engineering, the Institute accepts JEE Main Score card. The candidates can fill the application forms online on the official IIEST website. Aspirants can make the payment of the prescribed application fee by various payment modes which include Credit Card/Debit Card/Net banking/E-Challan. In case of E-Challan, the application fee can be paid in the respective bank branch as informed by the admissions department
