Remarks
Infrastructure has to be developed. As it as an old college with a very strong legacy, it has to change it's outlook. Most of the students are not even placement ready by the end of 4th year. Better internship opportunities are a must.
Course Curriculum Overview
When I studied, the course was a bit outdated. It needs to be fine tuned for modern requirements. There were almost no software courses in the curriculum which is essentially today like AUTOCAD. The only saving scenario is that the reputation of the college is very good and that's how it still manages to attract recruiters. The exam is structure is good. But results used to take a lot of time to come out.
Placement Experience
Placements are average to the best. Around 60-70 % of our batch got placed in a decent job. Attracting strong recruiters has been a problem of the college for the past few years. Yes, our college did provide for internships. But, most of them were unpaid.
College Events
There are various events celebrated in our college. The biggest one is Pyrokinesis. It is 2-3 day cultural extravaganza. It also contains many competitions ( cultural and technical). Guest lectures series was a fun addition during our time. Throughout the year many other activities happen in and outside the campus like cleanliness drives, blood donation drives, techno fests etc.
Fee Structure And Facilities
It's one of the cheapest in the country. Academic fees for the 4 years of my engineering degree was less than 50,000 INR. Fees were to be paid on yearly basis and a small fees of around 1000-2000 before every semester exam.
Fees and Financial Aid
There was no scholarahip offered by the college directly during our time as the whole curriculum fees was very low. But for the underprivileged students, there were many scholarships being granted by the Assam government.
Campus Life
Extracurricular was a big part during our times. Quizzing, drama and dancing competitions attracted a lot of attention. The labs of civil engineering department were very good. But the IT infrastructure in the whole campus was way underdeveloped at that time. There was not a lot of scope for sports infrastructure either
Hostel Facilities
No, didn't opt for hostel. I used to live in the city and used to commute regularly. There are 7 men's hostel and 1 hostel for women. Hostels are pretty basic and food is ok. But the fees that I heard from my friends was very low. So no complaints on that part.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni network is not that good to be honest. This is one of the primary reasons why our college fails to attract major number of recruiters to the campus. Strong almuni connections are essential as they are the ones who could bring their company that they are working in to the campus for the first time. Most of the senior students are helpful. But the alumni connections are weak.
Faculty
Most of the faculties are very experienced in Civil engineering ( my domain) and one of the best of the region. Some of the other departments do lack experienced faculties and is some departments there is a lack of them.
