Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum for AI is rated for around 9/10 in terms of relevence and comprehensivness . Highly relevent to industry needs covering all the core areas while also maintaining a theoritical foundation. It is a mix of core subjects, labs , projects.
Internships Opportunities
At IIT Guwahati , internship opputinities are strong , with summer internships after 2nd/3rd year through the placement cell. Top tech companies (Microsoft, amazon ) visit along with research and staryup oppurtunities and most students secure atleast one internship.
Placement Experience
Placements at IIT Guwahati are excellent especially in the tech field ,with high placement rates and strong average packages generally Rs 30 lakh per annum. Top companies regularly visit the campus. After completing the course if i do not get placed on campus which is hardly possible i'll look for other off campus placements.
Fees and Financial Aid
The B.tech in artificial intelligence and data science from IIT Guwahati has a total cost of about Rs. 11-12 lakh for 4 years (General, OBC and EWS students). Tuition fees - Rs. 100000 per semester ( 8 lakh total) Acedemic fees - Rs. 80000 - 1 lakh approx Hostel and mess expenses - Rs. 30000 per semester ( Rs 2.5 lakh approx for 4 years) However, SC , ST and PWD students pay only Rs 3 lakh approx in total EWS studets gets a full waiver of the tuition fees. Scholarship- For student with family income less than 5 lakh per annum gets a tutiton waiver and a fixed monthly stipend. With this it makes IIT Guwahati one of the most cost effective institutes in India.
Campus Life
At IIT Guwahati campus life is vibrant with active clubs and major fest like Alcheringa and Techniche . Social life is so strong through hostel interactions and infrastructure is modern and well - equipped .
Admission
I chose IIT Guwahati because of a strong IIT brand , excellent placements and comparetively lower fees. Compare to other IIT's it provied good campus expreience and less academic pressure. Compare to other NIT's , private colleges ,IIT Guwahati stands out in every fields. If one coudn't make it too higher IIT's it's because of not elegible after the JEE advanced rank as competition is very intense. The admission process involves JEE Advanced after qualifying JEE main followed by centralized councelling JoSAA.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is 1:12 - 1:15 with overall faculty interaction as descent with many professors available for any kind of help. The institute has highly qualified faculty specially in tech field. Each semester includes mid term exams , end term exams , with quizzes and assignments and the difficulty ranges from moderate to high but can be managed through consistency.
Night Life
At IIT Guwahati, nightlife is moderate and mostly campus - centered. Students stay active late with hostel hangouts and night canteens , gaming , group studies etc. However outside options are limited due to remote loacation so there's not like city nighlife like metro cities.
