Remarks

I had a mixed experiance in this college. there are many things that should be improved. like there are short of place in laboratory so you feel little congested during lab session. There is a short of instruments like microscope, PCR mechine, incubetor,

Entrance Preview

In my time there is no entrance exam. I fill up the form and submitted it and got my admission according my B.Sc. marks. I choose this college because I had a dream to study in this college.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Course curriculum is good and the syllabus is good enough. they follow the syllabus of university of Calcutta. Course is 4 semester system and there is a excursion during the course. this experience is a life time experience. the quality of study is very good. there are two specialisation in the final two semester, you have to choose one of them. specialisations are genetics and Industrial Fishery Science.

Internships Opportunities

There is No internship in this course. as this is the masters programme in basic science you have to complete the course work before getting a job. After doing the masters programme most of the students go for research work in various fields. But Some choose teaching as their profession and joined some private schools as a teacher.

Placement Experience

3.5

There is no official placement programme in this course. But don't take it negetively. Permanent faculties have different connections. they recommend your name to them and you will get the job. In my batch there are 25 students and among them 4 students got chance in research, 2 got a chance in world bank project as a officer for five year, and other 11 student became teacher in different schools.

College Events

4

We celebrate different events like freshers welcome, teachers day, independence day, new year eve, saraswati puja, holi, etc. but the main attraction is the cultural programme. the main cultural night celebrated on the month of February at Najrul Mancha, there are different sports events in the winter season. Asutosh college have a amture football team in local league. there are various seminars and workshops on different subject held during the course period.

Fee Structure And Facilities

As the course is self financed you have to pay approxymetely 80 thousand as total semester fee (including 4 semester). along side you have to pay more or less 2 thousand exam fee/ semester. at the time of excursion you have to pay more or less 7500 INR.

Fees and Financial Aid

scholarship available for the good candidates either male or female. State govt. award merit cum scholarship for masters students. If you have a 1st class percentage in graduation you can get it. For only female students there are a National fellowship called Indira Gandhi Fellowship for single girl child. you can avail loan fecility at that collage, but you have to contact the college before getting loan

Campus Life

3.5

Campus life is very cool. Like other college there are political tension in this college but this is restricted to only graduation students. they does not disturb you for political issue. in my course there are sexual orientation, like in my batch there are 18 girls but only 7 boys. students came from different socio-economic environment but that does not bother any one. environment is secular in the college.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

There is a hostel for male students only, but seat is limited. So maximum students stay in mess or PG. in that locality there are many PG accommodation available in pocket friendly price. As the college is located in a posh area mess does not serve food f

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors are very helpful to us. they guided us in best possible way like giving notes and other study materials. when we became senior we also help our juniors in their study related quaries.

Exam Structure

Exam structure is student friendly, that means semester system. there are five theory paper and a practical paper for 1st two semester. From 3rd sem you have to attend 4 theory paper and two practical paper. In last sem you have to attend 4 theory paper,

Placement Experience:

Actually this is a general degree University , so I must mention that placement facalities are not so good. But yes , Job Fair is organised in University by some external agencies which offer jobs varying 2-2.5 lakhs per annum . But in the university most of the students do not accept that jobs. Half of the students are more interested on the higher studies. So ahet completing the fourth semester they prepare for PhD. And the another half are preparing for central government sponsored exams like CGL, CHSL, RRB, SBI , IBPS, LIC etc. University has a significant number of students who have qualified for Government Competitive exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My decision to choose this course depended on the fact that this course provides you with the opportunity to get various jobs in the industries with a high lpa. But this college does not help much in that aspect. All I had to do was myself. It is my humble opinion that the institution should improve its guidance in the area of its teaching methods. The exams were twice a year and were quite difficult on their own.
