Remarks
Thapar is a blend of all the good things in academics as well as non-academic. There are various good things such as events,hostel life, lush green and beautiful campus. I would definitely like to recommend thapar to any meritorious engineering pursuing student. Enjoy your life in thapar.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is designed in such a manner that overall personality of a student can be developed. In first year, there are computer subject 'C' which is taught to every first year student, it develops logic building of a student.Then subject such as professional communication develops the communication skills of a student and there are group discussions in this subject.
Placement Experience
Placements are very good and it all depends on the hard work and intelligence of the student. Good companies come to the college annually and take out the cream of the institute.Yes , our college provides internship but the stipend is not very good.
College Events
Thapar is known for various events. The main annual techno cultural festival is Saturnalia. It is for 3-4 days and there are various events such as hackathons, racing. Also a famous celebrity is invited each year. Along with these Izhaar is a cultural event where there is singing,dancing competitions. There are many events in thapar and life is happening here.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Thapar is very expensive. The hostel rent fees is very much, the food fees is also very expensive. The academic fees is also very high but yes the money spent is all worth it if you get a good job in computer department.
Fees and Financial Aid
Our college gives a lot of scholarships only if you are a meritorious one. One can get a lot of scholarships if he has a good rank in JEE. Some students have also availed full waiver off.Some have availed 50% off.
Campus Life
Thapar is good in extra curricular stuff, there are various sports events under Spades. There are also singing,dance competitions which are a source of entertainment to all of the students. There are various events such as hackathons conducted each year and cash pizes are also given.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel infrastructure is good. After first year , all the hostels are very good as they have air conditioners. The buildings are also very well maintained and well built. Mess food is also average and there are night canteens also. So,I will give 7/10 to hostel facilities.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni is also good. The senior are also very helpful. They talk with the juniors in very nice manner. They are very nice in nature. There is no ragging policy and it is considered as criminal offence which is the best thing about thapar.
Admission
There is a merit basis for getting the streams.For instance if you are getting a higher marks in JEE you are eligible for getting good streams such as computers science,electronics and computer etc. There are various counselling rounds and i was called in the second round and there were various formalities which were to be signed and then i got computer science branch on the basis of my JEE marks.
Faculty
Faculty of Thapar is good. There are many hard working teachers which teach with full enthusiasm and passion. There are extra classes if a teacher has to cover up the syllabus. There is 75% attendance criteria which has to be religiously followed. Teachers are very strict about this rule. Also there are many teachers who did not teach up to the level but their number is relatively very less.
