Remarks
Jai Hind College - 2nd Best Commerce College in Mumbai. It is said to be one the best colleges of Mumbai and being a student of it myself I can agree with that statement. I've loved studying here for 3 years as well enjoying the lifestyle of events and everything the college provides.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course which I did is pretty basic as it comes under Mumbai University and the curriculum of it was also decided by the university. The teachers at Jai Hind did their best to follow university paper pattern and teach us topics according to the weightage they would carry in exams.
Placement Experience
Every year around December January placements take place for the final year students. All students are welcome to take part, prepare with teachers and then sit for aptitude tests and interviews in their desired companies. I although did not attend the on campus placement as I had plans for pursuing post graduation, Masters in Commerce from Jai Hind College itself. The stipend I heard from my friends who were selected for KPMG, Deloitte is pretty decent at an average of ?15,000 per month.
College Events
There are various events that make Jai Hind College one of the top colleges of Mumbai. Every year students are allowed to take part in any or all events. The event for Bcom students was Jaihind Advertising Festival which happens under the advertising subject and students not only get to celebrate the festival but also learn the easiest subject of the syllabus practically.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fees has to be paid at the time of admission in full and it is pretty feasible. It is around ?5,000 annually which can be paid by demand draft or a debit/credit card, this keeps changing every year. There might be more payment options as well as grants to sports and otherwise quota.
Fees and Financial Aid
There is the female students grant which is to educate female students. This allows a discounted fee for the female students and also encourages parents of females to send their daughters to college to learn.
Campus Life
The college gymkhana has a table tennis table, carrom board, chess boards. The gymkhana also holds multiple events year round including a marathon, and a treasure hunt. There are chemistry labs for the science students but being a Commerce student I hadn't been there. There is even a computer lab for IT students.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni is great! I've connected to over a 100 of them on LinkedIn and they share opportunities with the juniors. They come during campus placements as well and try to fill in their vacancies with the junior students and help them with other opportunities as well.
Admission
The application was a simple process online and payment for the form could be done online too. Then I had to print the form and check merit lists every week. My name came in the 3rd merit list and I went for the admission process. I had to take my 10th and 12th marksheets along for the admission process including annual fees to be paid at the time of admission. The admission was done within an hour and I was handed a receipt with which I had to get my ID card made.
Faculty
The faculty, both teaching and administrative, are very supportive and very helpful for all students. They complete the portion on time, give students time to study and then hold exams. The administrative staff is helpful in getting railway passes and sanctionimg scholarships and leaves.
