Remarks

Positive: Nice college life, freedom you can't imagine, students from all over Kerala and even from some parts of India.A lot of technical clubs to support you. Negative: Teaching and management is poor

Course Curriculum Overview

Curriculum is way old and not updated like in IIT or NIT. You will take some time to adjust with the environment, for most of the students it takes till the first internal exam.You will have access to many clubs that can help you develop skills.

Placement Experience

The college provides a good placement record for a government college. Most of the recruiters are Indian companies and avg salary package is around 3-4 lakhs.The college has a separate cell for placement training which is active.

College Events

The college's largest event is DYUTHI.Which is conducted nearly every year. Then there is Thrissur Motor Show(TMS) which is organised by mechanical department. It is one of the best motor show in South India and the best in India conducted by college student.

Fee Structure And Facilities

For BTech it was 8225 when I joined and I think it is feasible considering the fees other colleges ask.In addition to this you have to pay 13700(when I joined) as college fund. This fees include your PTA ,bus service, caution deposit etc

Fees and Financial Aid

There is an scholarship by Alumni 's of the college to needy and eligible 60 students.The college has an incharge for informing about various scholarships. The are numerous scholarships by both central and state government in addition to private ones.

Campus Life

The college stands out in all these. The college has an IEEE chapter ,SAE chapter etc for technical support. Ideator is the college innovation club which can help you technically and financially.There are also cultural clubs like SPICMACAY, GRAFFITI etc

Alumni/Alumna

The Alumni network is very strong here. We have alumni chapters even in foreign countries. They donate an appreciatable amount of money and help with the placement process. Alumni who are entrepreneurs and speakers often come to college for programs.

Admission

Wrote KEAM and passed 12th. KEAM is an entrance exam for getting in to engineering colleges in Kerala that are under KTU.It has maths,physics, chemistry part.Your Entrance Rank depends on your KEAM score and 12th marks.

Faculty

3.5

Faculty is good but most of them doesn't come to class often.But Labs are conducted strictly and seriously.Most of them have PhD and all and are quite experienced in their field except some who comes for light subjects.

Placement Experience:

we are eligible for placement from the 7th sem. Many famous and small compines vist our college. Infosys, WIPRO, TCS vist our college. But the big companies take only few student. Highest package was 1,00,000. And the average package is around 4,00,000. Almost all students gets placed from the campus .

My Experience at NIT Calicut

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the EEE course curriculum around 8-8.5 /10 in terms of relevance.The curriculum provides strong fundamentals in core electrical engineering subjects and prepares students well for core jobs and higher studies.The course curriculum was revised in 2023, and our batch is the 1st batch under the new curriculum. however, there are still limited coding ,AI and data science subjects in EEE ,which could be improved. Exams are conducted times per semester and are generally moderately difficult.

Course Curriculum Overview:

the course curriculum is lakhs relevance to modern industry demands. while it covers the basics there is minimum focus on practical skills emerging technologies and real world applications overall, the courses not comprehensive enough.

Is engineering here worth it?

Students are eligible from 7th semester to sit for interviews. The pod.ai app helps us in making the resume and calculating a cgpa to appear for the intwrviews. The pod.ai registration fees is 500?. Companies such as nissan,infosys,commandtech,bimlabs,gulfasia etc has visited . And the highest package was 11 LPA and lowest was 3 LPA

College and faculties promote and provide chances for Industrial visit in industries all over India. The faculties of our college are well experienced and with better qualifications. Prof Rajesh Menon of the mechanical department is a gold medalist from IIT MADRAS.

If you want to be in a controlled environment, focus on academics, make use of some good placement opportunities, and get somewhere career-wise I would be suggesting Amrita University.
