Remarks

The college has 0 tolerance towards ragging and bullying. In fact, it makes students sign an anti ragging affidavit. One thing negative about the college is that in some semesters, the time table is hastily designed and can lead to a hectic semester.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum is well rounded and doesn't demand you to focus on one specific field of study. It makes sure that, while you study what's most relevant to your branch, you also get educated about subjects which aren't so necessary for the branch. There are 5 subjects, and a few lab subjects. They hold two 30 marks tests for the 5 subjects and one 100 marks exam every semester. Two 2 30 marks tests are averaged and the final exam is scaled down to 60. During the semester an internal assessment of 10 marks is conducted. The 10 marks internal assessment, tests and exam add up to 100. The labs are out of 50 marks, and the students are marked on the basis of their lab journals practical exam and Vivas. The passing percentage is 30%.

Placement Experience

4

KJ. Somaiya is one of the top colleges when it comes to placement and job opportunities. Various companies like Microsoft and oracle come for recruitment and the minimum salary last year was around 5 lacs per annum. The college has a dedicated internship cell for students and produces a lot of in house internships. Students who have completed first year are offered these internships.

College Events

5

The college has a lot of clubs and a dedicated student council and its job is to host and manage various events. The college hosts a technical fest, and a sports fest every year. Apart from that student council also hosts several cultural events, such as garba evening.

Fee Structure And Facilities

It depends. For regular admission the yearly fees is about 1.7lacs, and the course lasts for 4 years. For NRI students the yearly fees is 4 lacs. It is a little expensive but totally worth the experience, education, and placements.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college has scholarships for economically backward classes, and has a special quota for Gujarati minorities. They ask for documents relevant to the process. But it's not a difficult process and the staff is always helpful.

Campus Life

4.5

The college has a football field, a volleyball field and a running track. Apart from that, the college hosts indoor games competition for chess carrom etc. For first years the college has a chemistry lab a physics lab. They also have a lot of computer labs and workshops for audit courses.

Alumni/Alumna

Senior students are always ready to help and guide the younger students. Every year an ice breaker session is held with freshers and senior students participate in it so that they get to know each other better.

Admission

This is the criteria for NRI admission process. Visit the website and fill out the Google form which asks for your 10th marks and 12th marks, and other details relevant to the admission process. The college later releases a list of students shortlisted. If shortlisted go to the college and submit the documents required by the college. The college starts classes a week earlier for NRI students.

Faculty

3.5

The faculty in KJ Somaiya is experienced and helpful. Every teacher is required to have a master's degree and most of them have a PhD. Apart from being knowledgeable and helpful, the teachers are really interactive and take part with students in academics and other co curricular activities.
