Remarks

The college is situated at posh area of Srinagar, it is sorrounded by dargah shrine and Kashmir university. It is situated at the bank of Dal lake. The climate of Srinagar and the beauty of college and outside is very mesmirising.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Course curriculum is good, but syllabus is bit old as is the case with other NITs. The institute offers admission in BTech, MTech, MSc and PHD. Ist and second semester is same for all branches of BTech while rest of semesters are of their own streams. Exam structure is two minor exams of 20 marks each, one major exam of 50 marks and 10 marks based on attendance etc.

Placement Experience

2

No, college doesn't provide internships. You need to search for internship by yourself. Placement is good for CSE and IT streams only. Since college is Kashmir, it remains disturbed mostly and lot of companies hesitate to come for placements.

College Events

3.5

Almost every religious events are celebrated in this college. Apart from that Freshers party, Freshers orientation, Tech fest's, Farewell, convocation etc are also celebrated. Also every year college facilitates alumni meet.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is very good. I guess it is very cheap. At our time it was 22k per semester but now it is based on income of the student. I guess for below poverty line the fee has been waived off while for above poverty line, 39k is fee and 15k is hostel fee.

Fees and Financial Aid

College doesn't avail any scholarship or loan facility. Student needs to do that. Students usually avail MOMA ( ministry of minority affairs ) scholarship and sc/st scholarships. since now for below poverty line fee has been waived off. Students doesn't need to avail any loan facility.

Campus Life

2

College has very huge ground which is around One third of college area. You can play cricket, football, volleyball, basketball, badminton, table tennis, lawn tennis and carom. Labs are not good but not much hi tech, only few labs are hi tech. Each year college facilitates intern college and intra college sports events. Each year students are shortlisted for sports events.

Hostel Facilities

3

Hostel is not that good. Some buildings are decades old. At our time even WiFi was not available till 3rd year. Now new hostels have been built and WiFi is provided for all semesters. Also 4 people share room till 3rd year. In 3rd year 3 people share a room and in final year each one has separate room with high speed LAN facility.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network is very helpful in terms of placements and opportunities. College facilitates alumni meet every year where students can meet alumni network and discuss the career opportunities and placements.

Admission

You need to pass JEE mains formally AIEEE with good rank to get admission in this college. Half of seats are reserved for state while half are for other remaining states. Since this is tier 2 college, you need very good rank in her mains to get admission here.

Faculty

3.5

The college faculty is very good, well qualified having good amount of knowledge and experience about the subjects. CSE and IT stream faculty is younger, only few are permanent and mostly faculty in these streams are contractual. Rest of branches have very senior faculty. Also faculty is very helpful.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is quiet relevant it covers all the important subjects and topics.I chose the Ece branch as the demand of semiconductors is rising in the future. The curriculum perpares us well for real world applications. The course teaches us a lot of outdated concepts but it misses out to teach about what is happening in the world right now. So the course can involve a lot of topics that are in trend.

Placement Experience:

Placemets start right from your 7th semester. Most comapnies that would come here would be like vedanta , ashok leyland etc etc who mainly do mass hiring, th no of offers are quite low as for durig my time most companies qul do diversity and hiring would only select girls and the girls were low in numbers as compared to the boys so each girl recieved atleast 2-3 offers while rarely a boy would even rev=cieve a single offer. The highest package was offered by Vedanta but it was 13 lpa in ct in hand it would be arond 5-6 lpa , the average package was also the same around 5-6 lakhs per annum. Percentage of students placed would be around 30 percent but they inflated the numbers heavily but showing only the students who were eleigible as boys were mostle ineligible. My plans are to look for masters somewhere abroad.
