The unsung college

The best thing about this college is that it's one of the best investments you can ever make, because the infrastructure and placement ratio which this college offers at such a cheap fees structure is just unbelievable. Coming to the biggest con, I'd say that just like every other college, here also student politics plays a huge role in college administration.

Heritage institute of technology is an autonomous institute, so the curriculum is more or less defined by the institute management itself. According to me the curriculum is not up to the mark, yet just enough to get you a decent job in the real world. We have 8 semesters, each one comprising of two unit tests/internals of 30 marks and then the practical examinations and finally the semesters worth 70 marks.

This college is one of the best in entire Kolkata regarding placements, with a very high success ratio. TCS(ninja and digital), WIPRO, INFOSYS, ITC, ACCENTURE etc are the major companies which sit in our college. The TPO is also helpful. The college doesn't provide internships, although it does provide training once during 6th to 7th semester break

Eclecia is the official cultural fest and Daksh is the technical fest. In 2017 Farhan Akhtar was one of the icons in Eclecia. In 2018 due to some issues between management and students fest was cancelled, still the fest is again up and running with monali thakur gracing us with her present in April 2019.

The course fees of HITK is quite feasible for middle class families with a provision of lesser fees for the not so fortunate class. The fees are to be paid at the starting of each semester. The fees is roughly 45000 per semester as of now and stays almost the same throughout the year.

I'm sorry to inform but heritage doesn't offer any scholarship to students although there are a few loan programs available with the in-home PNB bank branch. I personally didn't avail any such facilities.

Heritage is well known in West Bengal for its sports teams, be it football, cricket, basketball and what not. The labs are also well equipped and sufficient for a student to learn peacefully. We also have different clubs, for eg the science club, photography club, quizzing club, etc which promote the said activities in the college.

The alumni network is not very active but the bond between the students irrespective of the year they passed is just heart warming. I've been lucky to come across some of the best seniors one could wish for during my time here at heritage institute of technology.

I sat for the WBJEE exam and secured good enough rank for counselling and then got the ECE stream in this college. The counseling process is quite easy and WBJEE is also not that difficult. I sat for the exam in 2017 April and counseling began in July and the session started in August.

I'd say that faculty of this college is one of the best in Kolkata, but there's a catch, since my department has a lot of students, thus not all the sections get the best of teachers, so sometimes it also depends on your luck.
