Remarks

It is the best institute in India for engineering and developing your skills in any other field. People from my college are really flexible to the environment around them, maybe due to the rigorous tasks, they are assigned during their stay in the college. Our college has not only produced engineers and scientists but businessmen, consultants, actors, musicians, standup comedians, and almost every other profession owing to the environment here, we study hard and play even harder.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

Course curriculum changes really frequently with some branches as an exception like civil engineering because there are no research breakthroughs taking place in that field, but other branch course changes with new tech. and so are the exams. Mostly exam pattern depends upon profs. But generally, we have 2 quizzes, a mid sem, and an end sem. Exams are really tough but students put an all-nighter and pass them. Exams keep on taking place without gaps until they are finished, students are almost dumbstruck and exhausted due to their frequency.

Placement Experience

5

Placement word is what IITs are known for, they have the highest placements in the whole country and IIT Bombay is on the top, almost every branch gets 100 percent of placement and most of the student receive multiple offers. The same is the case with internships, they go on for the whole of your third year and almost everyone gets hired for an intern however small or big it is. Stipends are hefty, vary from the company but about 50k per month is pretty common for a third-year summer intern, some even bag foreign interns.

College Events

4.5

There are always events going on in the college most of them are tech. And cultural but entrepreneurship events are also increasing with pace, most famous of them are Mood Indigo, TechFest, E-Summit and there are many others, these are like really big and go for about 4 days and all of it is completely free and student-governed. The governing body is selected through various screenings and is solely responsible for the event, they prepare for the event right after the end of the previous edition i.e. one year before.

Fee Structure And Facilities

It is feasible, it appears to be expensive but the fact that there is no compromise with the quality of life and education inside compensates all. And for those who find it difficult to pay, help is always provided, whether it's from banks, institute scholarships, or our very own alum fund loan.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarships are really great to help, they are present for almost every student studying here. There is a number of scholarships ranging from privately funded to govt. I myself have availed of MCM scholarship, which remits my tuition fee.

Campus Life

4.5

Certain labs are outdated, but new ones keep being made. Sports facilities are really good, some of them are really unique to our college. Ranging from a standard swimming pool to an indoor cricket pitch and a climbing wall, and all this keeps on increasing.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

They are not so good as some hostels are like 40 yrs old or so. But the new ones are like hotels. Quite good, airy and really clean equipped with almost all the modern-day facilities. Old hostels lack protection from insects and all, sometimes we even have sightings of snakes but life goes on well and prospered. New hostels are mostly provided to freshers and postgrads. Some old hostels have been taken out of order and on the way to get demolished.

Alumni/Alumna

They are spread across the world. The network is very strong and very helpful to students seeking internships and jobs. They range from engineers to movie directors, actors, comedians, and many more. They are champions of their fields. Seniors help a lot during college life, from stress management to resume tips, they are always ready to help.

Admission

The only way to be an IIT Bombay Undergraduate is to ace the IIT-JEE Advanced exam which is held every year. It is preceded by the JEE Mains exam which is to screen out the candidates for the Advanced exam. It is really tough exam given the conditions and time crunch. It's somewhat one of the world's toughest exams. I prepared for the exam for about two years with my school textbooks and got a decent rank info 1722 in advanced and 1776 in main, and easily got the branch I am in.

Faculty

4.5

They are good, some of them are a bit old and age is really taking a toll on them, most department profs. are chill but some are really strict and kind of annoying but annoying ones give really good grades so that compensates all. Profs. Are really helpful when it comes to personal doubt solving or research-related tasks, they giveaways good projects to students to develop and learn although approaching them looks really difficult.

Once student get placement offer from one company that student is not allowed to apply next company which package is near to previous company. Placement in Kit college in my year is 70 to 75%. The unplaced students have decided to go for MS.

I choose this course because I have genuine interest in civil engineering. The faculty student ration is 1:50. Our faculties are well qualified they are master's degree holders in design and structural engineering. Some of them are PhD holders and many of them have done their master's from NIT and IIT. Term exams are scheduled after every 2 months. it is easy to pass because it consists of 30 marks only.
