Remarks

LIT Nagpur being such an old college hasn't attained autonomy due to the university politics. Baised placement cell hinders the development of deserving students. The infrastructure is very poor. The only good thing that happens is that the graduated students come out independent with full knowledge of their field.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

The curriculum consists mainly of Oleochemical and surfactant engineering. The students are required to take the basic subjects of chemical engineering and one subject of Oil Technology. Each semester the one subject of Oil Technology includes topics like oil refining, Oleochemicals production, surfactants, cosmetics, paints etc.

Placement Experience

3

LIT offers 7 courses in the field of chemical technology and engineering however the placement cell is biased and cares only for the Chemical engineering department and other departments are severely neglected. Internships are not provided by the college, students are supposed to find it on their own.

College Events

2

LIT celebrates its foundation day, an event called Merge which is an agglomeration of 5 events which consists of personality competition, quizzes, robotics etc. LIT also organises MUN and a technical conference called React- A national conference on recent trends in chemical technology & engineering.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Laxminarayan institute of technology being a government college has very low fees. General category fees is 27000 Rs per annum and fees for reserved categories is around 15000 rs. This is one of the ultimate selling points of the college.

Fees and Financial Aid

It is a government college so all the scholarship schemes offered by the government are available, the government of India post matric scholarship, economically backward scholarship, and tuition fee waiver scheme are the most famous schemes provided.

Campus Life

3

The labs are average. Just good enough to complete the graduation projects but doesn't have the equipments necessary for the students who wish to pursue research. Sports teams of lit perform well in the inter college events.

Alumni/Alumna

LIT being 75+ years old, has a very strong alumni network. Most of the companies or rather all of the companies that come for placements are because of the alumni. The seniors are the actual teachers in the college, who help the juniors.

Admission

The admission in my college is solely done by the entrance exam MH-CET. The cutoff marks being around 130/200. A general merit list of the students that appeared in the entrance exam is prepared and DTE is responsible for the admissions.

Faculty

1

They behave more like government employees rather than professors. Most of the faculty is not punctual, lacks the skill to teach the subjects. interference of faculty in students' personal life is prevalent here.

I choose this course because I have genuine interest in civil engineering. The faculty student ration is 1:50. Our faculties are well qualified they are master's degree holders in design and structural engineering. Some of them are PhD holders and many of them have done their master's from NIT and IIT. Term exams are scheduled after every 2 months. it is easy to pass because it consists of 30 marks only.
