GEC IDUKKI (GECI)

My college is beautiful as it is located at a very beautiful place - Idukki. Idukki is a tourist place as it is gifted by the mother nature. So the climate and the vibes are extraordinary. Even though the transportation to here is little bit hard as it is on a hillside place and there is no railways to Idukki District.

In Kerala, All B.tech courses are under APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU). In which we have 8 semesters (4year duration). In each semester, there are 6 subjects with appropriate credits. A total of 152 credits needed to get the degree. Exam structure, There are end semester Exam of the 6 subjects that registered on each semester. If the student fails the exam, supplimentary chances are also ll be given. There is a year out system is present in our university. If a student doesnt reach the criteria ( 27 credits in 1st year and 52 credits in 2nd year), He woulde be out for the year.

The College encourages students to get participated in Placements. They have arranged Placement training Programmes from leading trainers. They supports students to reach placement pool drives outside the college by providing transportation ( by arranging college bus). No. Our college does not provide Internships actually.

Freshers Day, Arts, Sports, Tech Fest, Womens day, Holi festival, Onam Celebrations. College is very active in case of colouful events. All the students are so co-operative and gets the events success.

Feasible. Its a government institution so a fee of 8250 per year is only payable as tution fee. In addition 1700 per semester for exam registration is also payable. Comparingly its feasible and a good thing for students.

There are few Scholarships for economically backward students. E-grantz, Merit cum-means Scholarship, Central sector Scholarship, etc. lots of people are availing this scholarships every year. It is given once in a year and it is about 12000 a year (average).

Arts Festival, Sports these are at the top level. These are conducted very well in our college. Arts and Sports are 2+2 days programmes and it is conducted as a department wise competetion. Winners get a rolling trophy and there is an overall trophy fot the best association.

In my college, College hostel has limited capacity so that only a few is in the college hostel and the rest are in private hostels near the college. It cost only 200 rupees a month in the college hostel but in the case of private hostels it costs about 750-1000 rupees a month. In addition a mess fee is also payable by the student. In overall it costs about 3500 a month for the student.

There is a poor alumni network that there is not a good alumni association. So the college lacks in case of alumni-meetups, annual meetups etc. It should be changed and everyone should be connected as well.

I had attended the entrance test KEAM2016 and got a rank of 8943. I proceeded for the allotment phases and i have got the allotment in GEC Idukki on merit basis. I attended the college at the time of admission prescribed by the CEE (Centre for Entrance Examination) and proceeded as a new admission. And paid the Fee required at the time of admission.

Faculty are satisfactory. There are few permenant staffs and rest are temperory staffs. Both of them are committed for the job. They have well knowledge and helping minded. Even though there are few, who may be rude, Totally faculty are satisfactory
